French/shabby/elegant style dilemma!
Comments (4)I think a shabby chic look isn't too dissimilar from an English country look so would look great in your house. A pale dove grey is perfect for shabby chic with pastel pinks and green with stripes, checks and floral fabrics, wallpaper etc. Brown is neutral so grey won't clash, however is the lounge carpet the same as throughout as this looks a pinky beige? Painted furniture is obviously key to the look especially white. If you did have a very dark brown carpet elsewhere I may not add white furniture. I personally wouldn't have anything over the fire, I feel the picture detracts from the fireplace. I do agree, sorry, I'm not convinced on the chandelier with your preferred decor. You can mix and match styles but the hard iron and colour just wouldn't work with the scheme in my opinion. A french style I also think would work, just lose the vintage accessories that make it shabby and some different patterned fabrics! I wouldn't do what I would define as an elegant scheme as I don't think it would work as well with the style of the house although french is elegant too If that makes any sense! Maybe post a pic of what you define as elegant!...See MoreParquet style dilemma!!
Comments (14)I like the middle one too. My house used to be a telephone exchange in the 40's, so the entire (bungalow) floor of the house is classic herringbone parquet with a triple straight border. The uniformity of the single herringbone in such quantity makes it so you dont really notice it most of the time after a while so I'd choose double to give it a little more oomph...See Morescandi style sofa dilemma
Comments (18)I like the Barbican too. Like Colourhapoy, I’m also a huge fan of eBay and I follow a few “shops” who sell furniture. This is a link to a Barbican being sold by a shop that specialises in John Lewis sofas. There should be a link to see their other items. A friend has bought from them recently and the price says “or best offer”. My friends husband made a cheeky low offer and won. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195304997088?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ZX3cr9QJTdS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Cg40YySeTLS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY...See MoreRug Dilemma - comfort or style?!
