Advice on sitting room paint colour and curtains please
Comments (5)First thing that makes the paper too busy is the stuffed room. So declutter. If nowhere else to put it, find a spacious cupboard/drawers. Paint it Yeabridge Green for example. Don't design around a sofa set you don't like. Find some pillows, rug and blankets that go well with the paper and floor. Make yourself a moodboard with curtains and such and then decide. Here are some F&B paint colors that could work well (I've tried them all, would not advise any other). Personally I like the first three on the left. But haven't seen your room (and taste), so no further suggestions.....See MoreLiving room curtain advice please
Comments (13)You need to make a decision. Do you want the fabric to bring colour and pattern to your room or do you want to keep the whole room neutral? If you want pattern, the next decision is what style- check or plaid, stripe, floral or geometric? Then what colour(s). The room, as you point out, is not overly bright, but do you use this room much during the day or is it an evening room? You could opt for deep, rich colour that warms the room at night like burgundy, deep turquoise or terracotta. Adding patterned cushions with similar colours will splash colour around the room. Also, I'd replace the Roman blinds with matching fabric to the curtains, otherwise that will will lack colour. You could make a single curtain for each of those smaller windows in your main fabric and pull it to the side furthest from the fireplace, tied back. As to style, since you don't appear to be overlooked, floor length curtains on the front window and patio doors can be on a 50mm pole extending at least 150mm plus finials each of the windows. To stack them further back extend the pole more, but take care not to have wall showing just before the window recess. Tieing them back would allow more light to come in. If you choose a multi coloured pattern, later changes to your lounge will not necessarily mean that you need to change the curtains. Remember that decorating your home is less about style and more about you and your family. Have fun....See MoreAdvice for curtains and wall colour to match fireplace. V traditional
Comments (6)That is just a lovely thing! If my tiled fireplace looked like that I would never have replaced it. Gorgeous Deco styling deserves something spectacular. More room pics please! Comments (12)If you love the fabric, then that is your answer. Personally I think the window style is traditional and so I would go for a double or triple pencil pleat rather than eyelet. I presume you are having your curtains made bespoke in this fabric. Pencil pleats probably use a bit more fabric so would be more expensive, but bespoke curtains are already expensive and I think the finish with pencil pleats is superior. I always think full-length curtains look much better, but you do have radiators under your windows and full-length curtains would significantly block the heat during winter. Also when the curtains are open they may present as black-ish stripes on either side of the windows....See MoreCarolina
