Window dressing for a box bay window in the bedroom
Comments (7)I think some beautiful white voile for the day time, mounted on a very discreet ceiling mounted track, such as Silentgliss, which can be bent into the bay. I would then put a bay pole in front of this with whichever curtains go with your scheme, using a blackout lining. I would be careful not to have the curtains gathered too full though as you do not have a lot of space to the left of the window to pull them back. Although unconventional, to overcome this problem, you might want to consider having the curtains made to different widths, ie a shorter left curtain and a wider right curtain so that when they are closed they meet at the corner. On a flat window this would be very conspicuous, but your window is unusual....See Moredoors and windows - doubting my decision
Comments (4)If you can see the back door on the same wall as the bi-folds then i'd paint that the anthracite to match the doors and also the frame. Otherwise you'll have white windows, a black door and anthracite doors too, all on one facade. On the front it won't matter, and you have done the right thing and ordered a black frame for the door. I'm sure it will look great!...See MoreSmall loveseat/snuuggler for bay window
Comments (0)Can anyone recommend a loveseat/smuggler which is both shallow and not wide? It's to fit a shallow bay window within a small living room! Really an armchair would be better but we're desperate for soft seating as only have one 3 seater sofa in the whole house! I like the look of this style best from sofa.com But they are always way too deep! So we've been looking at this instead: Also sofa.com Fingal (72cm deep x 113 wide). Maybe in bright pink to liven it up! And because it's a dark uncosy room right now. This is smallest we've found but the arms are so high. I think the traditional style with lower arms would be more 'open' but no good when they are 130 wide x 107 deep!! Also like antique style like this in a bright colour but don't know where to buy https://www.deborahfitzinteriors.co.uk/?lightbox=dataItem-ik6zt384 Any suggestions for teeny seating much appreciated, thanks!!...See MoreHow to dress bay window in a multi-use retro room?
Comments (11)Hi @Emma Lamb. I'm super up for a reconfiguration, but don't really know what else to try. I've had various arrangements in the past and this is the best yet. In an ideal world, we wouldn't have the furniture all against the walls, but we do yoga in here so we need the space. The two chairs are meant to angle in a little more than they were when I took the picture (after the Christmas mess!), but the one closest to the kitchen really just sits awkwardly blocking access to the kitchen and occasionally hiding the fish tank :( If you have any suggestions of things to move around, I'd be really up for hearing them. I know I want to keep the table where it is as I like to sit in the window while I'm working, the sofa and speakers are also pretty stuck in place due to listening angles, but the chairs, dresser, side tables, storage unit and small table holding the fish tank can all move. I'm planning to remove the fish tank table from the mix when the cabinet arrives, but they are similar in size so I could plan around either just now. I think I will go with Roman blinds and now just debating whether to get them made up or do them myself. The middle window will need more than one width so it will be a lot of matching, but I'm going to speak to the fabric store and see how I feel. So excited to get them in situ!!...See MoreRichard Johnson
