Help - Design, layout help on a new extension
Comments (21)I agree with Hugh re supervision plus by the time the extension is built your son will be nearing an age where he understands a little more. You may also want him in there to cook with you soon. I'm sure the kitchen can be designed from a safety aspect too if that's the only thing holding you back. I think the advantage of using OnePlan is that Karen can look at the whole house spatially etc and you're not tied to a particular kitchen company (I'm not on commission!). Click on her profile for reviews etc. I second Hugh's comments re karndean too! I like the heringbone parquet! If you did want to hire an interior designer (designers tend to be qualified in planning too I think as opposed to an interior decorator although many of those could be qualified by experience) then you could find you save as much as you spend. Some of them will offer you their trade discount which if doing the whole house could add up to an awful lot. They may also make you save from any mistakes and I've made a few of those! I'd go on houzz and search for pros and look at their reviews and previous work. I think you need to meet people yourself though as it's important to have a good working relationship and make sure they understand you...See More70m2 extension grout colour/spacing advice - 75cmx75cm tiles
Comments (23)Okay, appreciate the advice given so far. Went to the local tile shop with medium grey and sand grout samples and found that sand was a different shade to the sample in the shop. After taking newer samples out it looks to be my tiler samples had discoloured. So in the end sand was much browner than I wanted. Below is medium grey and also a lighter version (manhattan). Also size of the job. Now wondering if I should go lighter?...See MoreHow wide should I go with Bi Fold doors and material
Comments (7)The kitchen is an extension, the "new dining area" would have been the old kitchen so no structural wall will be knocked down. Below is the outside. The current window will be moved and will fit in opening of French doors and bricked up. And bifolds will go where small window is need to know how big to take it. And do we try and match up the frames and go white PVC or aluminium?? Below wall will be knocked down to create one big space through. It's a stud wall so will be leveled off. No beams This will be new dining area with bifolds...See MoreDark Blue kitchens trend to a end? should I go for something else?
Comments (27)I think it's important to compare when trends begin to when there is a surpless of items to sell in showrooms. The grey trend began to end around 5 years ago (anyone who is on social media would have seen this) but the large quantitiy of grey tiles, kitchens, carpets etc etc are still sitting in warehouses today and therefore need ot be sold. Grey will never go out of fashion, but grey everything will. Ultimately, it's down to rejecting fashion. Lots of companies such as paint companies try to push their green credentials, but they then push the whole concept of 'Colour of the Year' etc and constantly talk about trends. Maria Killam on instagram and Tiktok has done some very blunt and truthful posts about trends to avoid, and how to opt for timeless interiors in order to avoid wasting money. The other side of the arguemtns is that making a house really trendy, can in some instances add a huge amount of value if you're lucky enough to sell at the right time. There's no easy answers!...See Morekeswing
