Help needed for open plan kitchen lounge diner floor
Comments (17)Thanks urban space - we don't have under floor heating and the wood floor we had fitted about 5/6 yrs ago has been a nightmare. We did have an expansion joint but had so much movement and warping. We had the company back out beginning of this year and we had wanted to have a new floor at that stage but they said they could put right the existing one. Not sure on the technical term for what they did but they effectively relaid/ straightened it and used a resin with wood chips in to fill the gaps so you couldn't see them but within 5/6 months we have movement again and now all this resin is starting to rise out the top. For that reason I'm just not prepared to have a proper wood floor again - it might be down to the fitters but it has been extremely costly. By the time you add our dog into the mix and the scratches he has added to it I think a fake wood effect is the way to go for us...See MoreIs it possible to have a semi open plan kitchen diner? Comments (6)What are you planning on doing with the current kitchen? You don't need all of the current kitchen space for the utility so why not have the kitchen running into that space and keep the dining room with the small nib near the dining room so the dining room still has a separate feel to it. If you then had a peninsula that Jen P mentions at the other end (say where the current utility wall is) is would definitely have the feel of being two separate spaces which you can connect further using the lighting and materials/colours used....See MoreUrgent colour advice: open plan living room-kitchen required, please!
Comments (3)It's really hard to have an opinion on a screen............uinfortunately, colours just look different to people as the colours on their screens differ from one another.......does that make sense. I can tell you however, having used Dusted Moss 2 & 3 on many occasions, that it is a lot more green than it looks on your chart above, which looks grey. It has grey tones, but as the name suggests it is a green. Dulux is for sure, lovely paint,. The colour charts however, aren't so accurate and the paint mixing compared to the colour cards is also not that accurate. I always suggest to people to go get colour cards and testers and paint at least an A4 piece of paper with 2 or 3 coats. Move the paper around as the paint changes with the light in differing positions. Probably not what you want to hear, but you can't choose paint from a computer screen and hope for any accuracy at all. I now prefer Valspar ( B&Q ), used to be Crown. The colour matching is phenomenal. The accuracy to the cards is spot on, and the paint is good. I used to be a Dulux everything fan................but since discovering Valspar I have been converted....See Morehelp I’m struggling
Comments (3)That depends on lots of things - size of kitchen, natural light sources, which direction the room faces, etc. Pretty much anything will go depending on your colour preferences. If you want to play it safe you could go for a light to mid grey (maybe slightly darker than your worktop) then add colour through accessories. Or you could go for a bold wall colour or feature wall - I like teal / blue-grey-greens but it depends on what you could live with!...See MoreSusan Clarke
