Wow...there is a lot of chat about this sink...I see it as simple as ...change it and put the right one in....end of saga....I would not be bringing in another option of a basin in here ....the original on is causing enough commotion. As for the clear gluey stuff ...that is silicone and that comes off of the tiles without a problem but you want to make sure that the pedestal of the original basin is smaller than the new one or you could end up with it not covering the tile line that this one had.....stick with the original....then there is no cost to you ....change it and it will cost you I would think...I would also put a smaller mirror about the size of the inner mirror without the framed edge... as I said previously as I believe that it is overshadowing this basin and will look even bigger with a small basin. What I would do is to put a piece of paper up on the wall and make it the size of your mirror currently and see if you like the size and then drop the size of the paper and see which is better. Hope you get this sorted soon...it is your bathroom and you need to decide before you get even more suggestions... hope this helps

Hello

Would you like tiles in between the sink and the mirror? Do you know what space you will have from the top of the sink to the ceiling?

We would suggest making the mirror slightly smaller in width to the sink. Creating a boarder all the way around leaving a bigger gap at the top for two downlights. An alternative would be having LED strip built into the mirror. This is really good way to install light without having to have the lights separate.

yes I am having tiles between the sink and mirror. I want to make a recess ( which will be tiled on the two sides and bottom). The mirror will be fixed to the plaster board within the recess. The top of the recess (4th side) I'm hoping to put down lights (two) therefore will not be tiling that part of the recess. Thank you for suggestion re making the mirror slightly smaller than the 1300 that is the length of the double basins.

My great idea about recessed mirror with down lights in recess has been scuppered! Have been told that I cannot put down lights in that small recess (6cm). Now I will have to make sure that the down lights that will be in the ceiling will be fitted in a good position so that, when looking in the mirror it won't give a shadow. Any advice on distance out from wall, the down lights should be positioned in the ceiling over the mirror. The mirror is 1metre long by 750 high.

Many thanks but what I was actually asking was for advice on the optimum distance the down lights should go on the ceiling to give the best reflection from the mirror.

Hello again,

We would suggest placing down lights approximately 75cm from the edge
of the ceiling. If they are positioned too close to a wall it will create
shadows around the edge of the ceiling. This can make the room appear dull and
smaller than it actually is. By having enough distance from the edge of the
ceiling, it will allow light to spread and fill up the whole room. Place one or
two down lights above mirrors to allow adequate lighting for washing or shaving.
Too many can wash out the space.

It is useful to calculate the spacing between down lights by
dividing the height of the ceiling by 2 and using the result as the separation
distance. However, do consider other factors such as room shape, windows, etc.
