To Wallpaper or not to wallpaper?
Comments (16)A belated THANK YOU to everyone who commented. This is the final result. We're super happy with it. Room A north facing "through-lounge" in a new build, 3 bed semi detached house Paint Walls: Purbeck Stone, Farrow & Ball Ceiling: Strong White, Farrow & Ball By the way, the room isn't as long and skinny as it looks in the photos. Painting it all one colour actually made it feel much, much larger. We were really impressed with the quality of advice the F&B staff gave us in regards to colour. We loved Purbeck Stone from the minute we saw it, and being brave really paid off....See MorePOLL: To wallpaper or not to wallpaper?

Comments (7)The colour of the paper seems quite neutral. I'd be guided by the childrens' favourite colours. And I'd try to zone the room accordingly (even if only with bedding ) but in a way that the two zones also complement one another. How old are the children? I favour giving them control of their space ( and responsibilities towards it) from a reasonably early stage. Also it's the one room I'd try not to stamp my own personality on, for obvious reasons. Kids go through lots of hobbies and interests so I'd try not to reflect these in the decor, but to give them space to express these asthey change. For instance through cork board noticeboards, desks/craft tables and accessible storage and display shelving. The ballet mad kid today will be breeding stick insects tomorrow :-)...See MoreAdvice on curtains to go with wallpaper?
Comments (5)Bedroom curtains ican't be too plush in my opinion. I'd go for a good weight slub velvet and make sure you don't skimp on the type of heading. A lot of ready made curtains have 2" headings which can look cheap and nasty. Pinch pleats look great, but if funds are tighter, then go for a 3" Pencil Pleat. There are many sites that offer them made to measure for fairly reasonable prices. This one, Curtains2Go are good and it's easy to put in your measurements, and pick your heading type. I chose these cafe au lait velvet curtains with pinch pleats in a rough size for a bedroom window:-...See MoreSonia
