Decorating daughter's room, wallpaper?
I'm in the process of decorating my daughter's bedroom. It's a small single that's filled with a large IKEA loft bed/desk. A few years ago I painted the walls a light pink with Disney bedding and artwork, but now my daughter would like something a little more grown up. I ordered this wallpaper below and plan to just do a feature wall behind the loft bed, although much of the paper will be obscured by the bed. I did consider doing the entire room, but was concerned that it was too busy of a print for such a small space.
Here is my daughter's bedroom.
A few things about the room; the desk is being moved under the bed entirely so I will not stick out. The dollhouse has been replaced by a matching IKEA chest. The hooks and accessory rails will be coming down and will require filling and re painting. Since I have to repaint should I go with another color? The current pink is not my favorite,but it does coordinate with the wallpaper.
Should I just paper the entire room, or stick with the wall behind the bed (lengthwise)? Should I repaint?

Comments (26)Hi. I hope you don't mind me saying but the stage area may be outgrown quite quickly unless you put in a big stage but I'm not sure there's the room. If you do go for a stage, I'd put it in the top left corner as you come through the door with the bed in the right corner with the pink style canopy (which should just fit?). Personally I love the canopy pictured against the wall (you can also tuck drapes out of harms way) and it will grow with your daughter. Your daughter certainly knows her own mind btw! The striped wallpaper would be good on that back bed wall with a canopy. You could mix striped wallpaper with patterned on the other walls if she wants that ie the stars? I would probably try and keep it a little simple though with the feature wall and duck egg on others if you want the room to last. I love the pink and green lights in your pic, maybe someing similar with pink and duck egg? . Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. Comments (2)I would also use 2 papers but probably go the other way with Plain on the bottom and patterned on top although I like both. Wallpapering is hard work, easy to get wrong and difficult to remove and can be dear. Do you actually dislike paint? Just wondering if it's worth getting someone in? I might add up the cost and time if so. Not that there's anything wrong with wallpaper, I have a fair bit of it!...See More

I would be willing to go even lighter. The only complication I can think of is that the ceiling is a warm, creamy off white. I don't have it in me to paint the ceiling right now. Will a faint blush work with a creamy ceiling?
She hasn't started putting stuff on the walls yet, but I do have a magnet board under her bed so I think it's helped contain most of her things.reesepbuttercup SLC, Utah 6b
