What colour to choose for kitchen island?
Really confused about what colours to choose. I like cornforth white for units and hague blue for the island. I have also seen some kitchen pics with moles breath kitchen island with cornforth white and it looks lovely too, more neutral so less risky. I would be interested to see island in worsted colour. I am after a more subtle neutral colour combination. Any ideas? I am attaching a pic of a floor tile that I like for the kitchen, and the colours from left to right are Worsted, corn forth white, Hague blue and moles breath. White colour is actually a sample of Silestone Blanco maple for work top. Want to achieve a neutral yet airy look. Also posting pics for my new built kitchen Diner . The island will be right in the middle, so don't think it will have direct light falling on it. Suggestions please, really in a dilemma

You could also look at little greene's colour scales if you want something really neutral, French grey is lovely as an example but depending on the room's orientation the light may bring the violet/blue out

French grey does look lovely, perfect neutral shade. I'm just a bit worried that a dark colour like F&B moles breath or Hague blue might look too dark. For

Comments (17)Having looked through your idea book, I would say that 70 percent of the pictured have a similar style to them, broadly speaking. Warmer tones, some darker wood / walnut, many of them handleless. As a next step, I would go back to all the pictures and write down the elements that appeal to you, and be quite specific. If there is one picture that stands out to you as having the right overall balance you can use this as a template when planning your kitchen, even if for example it has shaker doors, but you might want handleless. You also need to consider how the kitchen will look against existing elements in the room, and things you might be planning for the living area. Then consider the practical elements, ie pros and cons of different doors, finishes, worksurfaces etc. Some of this will depend on your circumstances, do you cook a lot, want easy to clean etc? There's lots of articles on Houzz covering that kind of thing. Budget will also play a big part. For my part, I went with a handless German kitchen, with a matt finish with a quartz worktop. Comments (20)I would choose something very close to that deep red/rust/plum (can't quite work out what it is) in the granite. It looks as if that colour is also in the tea towel on the right (hanging on the handle in front of the oven). Everything else is so light I think the room would take it well and it would give it wow factor. Comments (10)Putting white or light grey on a kitchen floor is asking for martyrdom - fine if you're what Freud called a housewife psychotic; but if mopping your floor three times a day isn't your thing, go for a darker floor and get your reflected light from the vertical surfaces of the island. I would also be wary of white next to cream - call me old-fashioned, but it's one of the few combinations that simply jars. 5 years agoHaugue Blue has quite green undertones to it where as Cornforth White is more red. How about going for the Cornforth White on the perimeter cabinets and Worsted on the island. It will give you a nice contrast without being too dark. This kitchen shot below shows Worsted on the base cabinets and Cornforth on the wall cabinets, the island is also in Worsted with an Oak top.
As far as the image above it could well be the same colours on both perimeter and island, but how about Shadow White on the perimeter and Drop Cloth on the island?littlehousedream thanked User littlehousedream
