Kitchen layout advise/opinions
Comments (12)Great advice guys. Regarding the sink / dishwasher - I completely agree, an oversight at 2am (it's addictive this planning). With regards to the middle of the house, I'm completely torn. I have drawn several other options where we have created a den for the kids in the old kitchen, the utility and W/C up against the living room wall and then used the breakfast room as a study/homework room but my better half is very keen to replicate the ability to see throughout the house as much as possible as we have this in our current home. An earlier drawing blocked off the existing hallway after the stairs and had a crittal style window in enabling you to see into the kitchen but provides more wall space for units - freeing up the other end for full width industrial Windows/doors....... Decisions decisions. On that note - any recommendations for architects/designers (suitable for drawings to be submitted under permitted development/structural engineers report and tradesmen instructions) that cover north Kent (Medway)? Thanks all...See Morewhich is the best layout, advice /opinions please
Comments (15)Think they're coming back a bit now anyway! I would just want a bigger space for the kitchen than in option 3, which opening it up would give you. Apart from that (and having to carry all the plates from kitchen to dining room and back!) I really like it...See MoreConverting double garage to kitchen - layout opinions
Comments (1)I know how it feels to want to make the house into the great property you know it could be but there are upsides to living in it through the seasons before making final decisions. This house has a lot of land and I was in the minority agreeing that the kitchen should go in the garage and the drive diverted, not to save money but to achieve a large room with a sunny terrace. But if you wait and get to know the property and outside space and where the sun is at different times of year the best solution might just become obvious to you....See Moreopinions on living room layout?
Comments (5)I prefer the layout with the tv in the corner as it looks more relaxed and you have used the sofa to divide up the space. If you turn the dining table at 90 degrees, ie long side parallel to the wall you will gain a bit of space and have one chair on each side and each end rather than 2+2 then you can have the table back nearly against the wall and still sit at it if there are only 1 or 2 people using it every day......See Morethreethree five
