Comments (23)Have you painted your fence yet? Just bought a sample pot of fresh rosemary but I didn't think it looked so good with the natural greens of the garden and have opted for willow instead. I've painted the bike shed and our new wheelie bin picket fence screen. The shed doors are Wilt Thyme from the previous paint job but I may give them a cream make-over....See MoreBack Fence Ideas
Comments (7)Virburnum tinus - evergreen shrub with white flowers in winter/spring There is a great Story on Houzz by Patricia Tyrrell called something like 10 trees suitable for a small garden which may help. It’s just that a lot of trees grow enormous with time and can engulf a garden. I’ve noticed one of your neighbours has already put one in. There aren’t many evergreen trees unless you go down the conifer route which can be a minefield! There are many shrubs that grow to 8-10 feet which may suit your garden. The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) have a great website where you can search for Tall Evergreen Shubs, for example. They also tell you how easy, or not, they are to grow. I see a lot of pleached trees on Houzz etc, but I’ve read they do need shaping and training to keep them in check, so do need maintenance, Heres a few evergreen shrubs that may fit the bill. Ceanothus - evergreen with blue flowers in May Mahonia - evergreen with fragrant yellow flowers in spring Mallow - evergreenish with pink flowers in summer...See MoreAdjoining fence ideas
Comments (10)It’s horrible and saggy. We have a very similar 23 metres of a very saggy fence that belongs to the neighbours. They have put smart balck trellis on their side, which made it look better. Last spring I painted our side and though it looks neater the panels sag in the middle of the panel and look pretty horrid. The nice dark colour of my side of the fence actually accentuates its unevenness They are not in the position to replace it at the moment so we are putting five full length panels in front of the fence so that we don’t see the “waves”. The initial idea was to grow star jasmine, clematis so that it gets covered but it will take too long to grow to cover the fence. The rest of the wall would hopefully get hidden by clumping bamboo and evergreen shrubs....See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
