Help with re designing out bathroom shower

I would love to get rid of our shower cubical and have walk in. Any ideas how we can do that.

Are you wanting to only replace the shower or re-design the entire bathroom? To replace the shower, the toilet and radiator are too close to appreciate having a walk-in shower without the floor getting very wet. If you don't mind the radiator getting wet, then you could potentially replace the shower tray with a rectangle one and have a wet shower panel on the side where the toilet is and walk in from the radiator side. However, a plumber will be able to determine the extent of the work to make it possible.

You have another radiator next to toilet? Is it possible to remove the towel radiator? and add electric underfloor heating if the other radiator doesn't give off enough heat?

Hi Michael, Sorry, but I have to partially disagree with you on this, daylight colour temperature is 6500K not 4000K. Yes, 4000K is warmer than 6500K but it does not give a truer representation of colour. Colour representation is measured using the colour rendering index or CRI. The closer to 100, the closer to daylight. The Megaman LEDs are 80 CRI for each of the colour temperatures. That said, the 4000K fitting will produce a brighter and cleaner feel to the room. However, it can look too harsh at night. 2700K is closer to traditional halogen fittings. It can look duller during the day, but looks a lot more welcoming in the evening - perfect for a soak in the bath. It comes down to personal preference in the end

Hi Sue. Your question caught my eye because, here at Big Bathroom Shop, we often receive enquiries regarding how to make the most of bathroom space. Not surprising considering that the UK has some of the smallest living spaces in all the Europe! So, I decided to have our specialist bathroom design team look at your sketch, and following are a few idea's we think might be helpful. First of all, as has been mentioned, you will really need to move your door- if it is a stud wall, this won't be too big a job. You could move the door left or right. Let's assume you move it to the right; next to the cloakroom door. That would mean you could then place the bath along the left hand wall. You would really need to think about buying a smaller basin and there are a range of options available to you here. You could consider a compact vanity, which will also provide what may prove to be some much needed storage space. Or you could consider a corner basin or, simply, a small wall mounted basic. All of these options free up a good amount of space. This would leave you plenty of room to install a walk in shower; 800 or possibly even 900mm. You might also want to install a small basin in the adjoining cloackroom. Something to bear in mind, and a favourite saying of our resident expert, Stephen, is that you "aren't having a party in there!" At the end of the day, the amount of floor space that you need to have available is just enough to swing a towel about your shoulders. With this in mind you can work wonders, even in the smallest of spaces. I would still suggest tanking/waterproofing the room prior to the installation of a standard shower tray or bath. Waterproofing membranes with the European Technical Approval will withstand normal movement within a house but the flooring and walls need to be of sound construction - a wetroom can be properly fitted in age of building. These principles apply to a standard tray or bath as the silicone beading around the edge may fail (from movement/age) and let wall bypass the tray, causing damage to the building underneath. This picture was taking after a bath with wall mounted shower was removed. The silicone had failed causing the wood to rot. This was all replaced and the below was created in its place: A bath will be easier for people with young children and if you plan to sell on, a wetroom will appeal to some where a bath will appeal more to others. Which ever path you choose (both your designs look nice) I would recommend waterproofing the room before it is installed. Kind Regards Mike
