What colour to paint bedroom cupboards

Redecorating my sons old bedroom, My only decision so far is that the walls are going to be painted cream. Will be purchasing new bedding and curtains, not decided on colour scheme yet.

Build in cupboards above the single bed need a repaint. Can't decide if I should go for the same cream in a Satin finish or White Satin.

Opinions please.

I think you should keep the blue walls but that green wall on the left if I’m correct I think that you should paint it white then your bedroom closets should be a light grey or a darkish grey. To be honest it’s quite difficult because of the colour of the room choices..

Yes, to cornicing and a picture rail. I've also put up a ceiling rose. I was planning to paint the ceiling, ceiling rose and down to the picture rail white - and do the same in all the bedrooms and public rooms. You've got me thinking now about matching the ceiling colour to the wall colour... ;-)

People often suggest that blue is cold, but we have a blue on the greenish side - we had it mixed and I don't have the number any longer. Visually the nearest colour I could find online was Dulux Blue Reflection. http://www.designerpaint.com/products/dulux-paintpod/blue-reflection/80377 In this traditional room we use it with slightly shaded white woodwork and ceiling, a rather "bedroomy" persian rug that is basically cream with deeper blues, some ochre and a little peach, but we've previously used it with the paler citrussy green often called lemongrass as an accent colour for a more contemporary look, with pure white woodwork. It really is the true blue of the sky and feels like daylight, even on the darkest days - I think you might find that it works well in a darker bedroom. I've just taken a couple of photos on my camera to show the colour in daylight and artificial light - apologies for the quality, they may come out the wrong way round!

We have just painted a feature wall in our bedroom with paint colour similar to Farrow and Ball Stiffkey Blue which is a very rich dark blue - which we love. Not sure if you plan to change your existing neutral or if you need them to work together. Our other walls and fitted wardrobes are painted Cornforth White (which is a warm grey - beige colour). Our room orientation is different to yours though. See pic below (ignore the Hoover!)

Thank you debzip, that's a lovely colour and I think it will work nicely if it looks on the walls how it does in the photos. The other thought I had was to go for something like Dulux Timeless, and then liven the walls with some vibrant framed prints, maybe pop art style. I'm not sure if that would make it feel too cold but might be more appealing to my son.
