Polished concrete floor

I would like a polished concrete floor finish for a residential house in a tropical climate area in East Africa. Can anyone shed light on the technique to achieve an even and durable floor? What is the average life span of a polished concrete floor? Any difference between a polished concrete floor and an epoxy floor?

Polished concrete floors, as the name suggests, are effectively poured concrete floors.

Concrete that has been treated with a chemical densifier and ground to create a smooth polished surface. Stains and dyes can be applied to enhance polished concrete, giving it a wide aesthetic appeal in addition to a functional one.

such floors will last a life time and are relatively easy to maintain and repair.

Epoxy floors are made of epoxy resin that again is poured onto the existing screed and once cured are hard wearing and come in a variety of different colours and designs. Epoxy floors are somewhat more technical with better temperature and chemical resistance and are often used in commercial or industrial applications.

I am living with in NZ and tried all our stores for polished concrete cleaner Only come up with one Selleys product with neutral Ph Washed the floor again with than and used a window wiper to dry it Better but not so good as b4 Buying a floor polisher as it comes right if you polish it furiously with your socks . Maybe it's because I chose the high gloss version The sealer is impregnated into the concrete as its polished ..it took 3 days to do and cost a lot! Thanks for you comments

Hi there just wanted some advice on anyone who has PC flooring or concrete tiles. I am debating between the two and there doesn't seem to be much difference in the cost. It will be a big part of our budget so I want to make the right choice. I've heard diff things about the maintenence for the flooring and worried this could be an additionally large long term cost. Hi Grant, this is possible but often the cost of the additional preparation works (extra diamond grinding, fibreglass mess and special epoxy primer) out ways the cost of simply taking them up and starting again. Hi all - busy renovating ground floor of property - the space is about 45sq/m and will include open plan kitchen diner tv room space, can’t decide on flooring option and for some reason i think polished concrete is the way forward - any experiences with this floor type? Will have underfloor heating as well.
