Best design / layout apps in 2018

Hi,

I am going round the houses with choosing living room furniture. what are the best apps to use your actual room then superimpose furniture you're considering / you already own? Am UK based but open to any suggestions. Thank you! A.

Something I would be interested in myself, deluxe has a paint app, so you can superimpose a paint colour onto the walls on a photo of a room which is good.

Hi, I have been playing around with most room/interior design apps out there but while they're pretty good at giving a general idea of space and layout, I haven't found one yet that allows me to import specific items or photos. Most of them offer a generic choice of furniture items and wall/floor treatments - not the ones I actually intend to buy or already own. As a result I end up with a nice looking fantasy room that hasn't got much in common with the room I'm working on other than its dimensions. Does anyone here know of an app that allows you to customise a space in more detail? I.e. treat walls in a room separately (for example, 1 brick wall, 3 walls painted), paint floorboards, import photos of specific items (furniture, lighting) into the design? I'm babbling but I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say. Any help would be appreciated - thank you!

I totally get the following the sun idea -so agree the kitchen and dining area move to the right side of the house is a good one ! Also agree that laundry room only really needs access from hallway not kitchen in this instance. Also like storage and hot press opposite laundry - makes sense ! Think you might maybe want to consider a glass door from kitchen to the inner hall - to bring some day light into that area and to give access to kitchen without having to go through dining room... Also, with a bit of re jigging of the ensuite and laundry room sizes you might be able to turn your bed to face the patio ? ( install patio doors) And have a dressing area behind bed ? Morning sun might just get to that patio in time for breakfast alfresco in the summer ? This is the sort of project we often get call in to help with as we produce whole floor plans and perspectives etc ! And we go through similar process as on this thread - we enjoy a challenge too - just like you are finding !! There's something satisfying about taking a space and making it work better isn't there ! One last thing ... it's worth asking a contractor to take a look at the plumbing implications before you get too far into your project planning !

If you were to put the utility door in the hall which might be more practical for washing, you could do something like this? Rather than the island have the peninsula as shown in your whole ground floor layout. Personally speaking I'd also go for an integrated FF as it's a much cleaner and streamlined look and I think fewer appliances on show in a living space the better. I'd have a banquette seat for the dining table so you can have it against the wall. An L shaped might work well. I'd try the sofas opposite each other to create a bit more space although that may not work depending on how many people in your family watching tv! I think you'd need to bring in the one opposite the tv a little to be able to see the tv anyway unless it's a massive tv! Although if the dining table is pushed back into that corner as suggested it does leave room for a corner sofa with perhaps a low back chair opposite it in front of the tv.

I like Floorplanner.................you can choose objects that are similar to those you own, but most importantly, you can change the sizes to be an exact match.
