Need lighting / soft furnishing ideas to go with my blue bedroom help!
Comments (7)Great work so far. I love the colour of the blue on the wall, the painting, and the chest of drawers. Are any of these pictures appealing? I'm thinking a bit of yellow would be nice to add or you can just add varying shades and textures of neutrals in the bedding, throws, and curtains or blinds. I've also included a couple with bronze as previously suggested....See MoreAre dark blue walls too dark for a dark bedroom with minimal light?
Comments (13)If you’re looking for dark blues, look at Craig and Rose’s Payne’s Grey. Despite the name it is actually the most beautiful shade of deep blue with a hint of grey. I spent months agonising over blues but then got fed up in lockdown and got the Payne’s Grey, despite worrying that it would be too grey for such a dark corner. it is the perfect colour, and I’m looking forward to using it on walls elsewhere. It’s also usually cheaper than F&B and similar if not better quality....See Morehelp last minute decision blue stairwell vs a more neutral grey?
Comments (5)If it's a dark colour then it will darken the space but it might be cosy and dramatic, but it will be darker and so the lighting needs to work with that. The issue with blues is that a lighter version of a blue changes the character so much and so it can go from cosy to cold. A mid value colour may be better. Little Greene paints actually give the LRV of the paint which is how much light it relfects. I have read that LRV around the 60's is a good bet for spaces which are of average light levels. And don't forget, Farrow and Ball usually photograph their colours in beautiful period houses which are usually drenched with natural light....See MoreKitchen layout help - how far is too far between appliances?
Comments (4)I can see why you've designed it like that as it'll be lovely and simple to look at. For me the walking so much woud be too annoying though, so I'd choose function over beauty and put the sink (or hob) on the island - and turn the island round so it's parallel with the run of kitchen. Get the hob (or sink) plus fridge plus larder unit on one long run. Opposite tall units can be freezer, ovens and extra larder space. And I'd look for a round dining table to fit in the bay window area - something extrendable for larger dinner parties. Or a long skinny table on the other side of the island and keep all of the kitchen on the back wall and island only - would need to check dimensions of table and chairs to see where they would fit best, maybe an upholstered corner bench situation in the bottom right corner would be nice?...See MoreE D
