Hello, Who made the kitchen cabinets? What type of wood? We recently bought little place in boulder and are unfamiliar with resources

Hi Susan!

Thank you for your question- Unfortunately I do not have the answer as I was just photographing this project. Fuentes Designs in Boulder were the architects and they may have more info on sourcing various items.

God I love your cabinets and worktop - don't change a thing! You could add pops of colours - almost anything will look good as a nice neutral pallet. Do you like maybe a soft lavender which always goes nice with the soft grey-green of cupboards? F&B Elephants Breath has a hint of it. I'm glad to see everyone saying leave cupboards as they are. You need to consider 2 important points. 1. Raw material sizing will restrict how high you can make your units. You also need to consider transport. Its one thing to make a 3m high tall unit (not possible as most material sheets max out at around 2.4-2.5m) but how do you transport it. How do you bring it round corners in houses etc? 2. Special sizing and slab painted doors are not what you would find in sheds. You need to look at independents or bespoke cabinet makers and yes you would have to pay for specially made furniture.

There are so many factors that go into this. When my family home was being remodeled, the kitchen floor and countertops were chosen first. Choosing the backsplash and kitchen cabinets was always in accordance to what had been chosen first (in terms of finish and colors). I always thought a combination, if done right, looks great!

Hi Joanne, Questions to ask yourself are Would you like the room to be : - brighter or darker - cosy or fresh - feel larger or smaller - feel warmer or cooler - feel cheery, neutral or moody Also which way is the room orientated north? What are the other colours that are in the rest of the house? If these colours are all cohesive the spaces will link well and the house will feel larger. Interior Designers can offer a colour consultation - this is brief example of some of the factors that should be considered but the full service is best in person as the designer can get the feel for the space and samples can be viewed in the correct light which makes all the difference.
