Bathroom Layout
Our family bathroom is currently very cramped and has a shorter-length bath that we can only fit our legs in! We are planning on stealing some of the landing and rotating the bath 90 degrees to create more room as shown in attached floor plan, but I'm struggling to decide what to do with the rest of the room. The toilet and sink are shown in their current position and feel quite cramped. Would it be best to move the sink in between the toilet and new bath position?
The problem with doing so is that it would be below the window so we wouldn't be able to put a mirror above it.
Also struggling to find wall space for a heated towel rail. If we stick with current layout we'd have to get a short one under the window next to the toilet but I'd prefer a full height one if possible.
Interested to know if I'm missing any obvious ideas for improving the layout?
Room dimensions are approx 2.5m long by 1.4m wide currently. We would steal 0.3-0.4 m from the hallway to fit a standard size bath in.
We have a separate en suite so this is mainly used by our 2 kids who are currently very little (age 2 and 4) but want the space to continue to work for them as they grow up.
Any suggestions very welcome?

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoYou could consider having the bath under the window and a heated towel rail across from it. Then, the toilet & sink would go against the newly elongated wall. However, this might still feel a bit cramped.

Comments (6)It will take your builder no time to pull down a brick wall. If it’s the one between the bedroom and the landing I think your builder will assure you it’s no bigger deal than taking out a wall made from wood studs. Just because it’s built of brick doesn’t mean it’s holding anything up. Building stud wall is a builders bread and butter and since your old brick wall would have likely needed skimming the cost won’t be much different so don’t be afraid to go further because you only want this level of dust and disruption once....See MoreAlternative bathroom layouts?

Comments (17)I think your instincts are right and this room is too small for the laundry as well as a bath and shower. I think if you want a jet bath it will be at least 800 wide. If you then have a 700 toilet opposite there will only be 450mm for knees which is not enough. A space saver toilet might help but I still think it will be undersized. Furthermore the wall against the stairs will be tight for everything you want to fit in. If it were me I would prioritise a shower. Even with a laundry in there this could be an amazing shower room - I would then resolve to make sure that every time you go away you book a room with a tub. If you need the bath for toddlers then you should consider an oversized bath with a super shower over it...See More- PRO
