Help with colours, dark hallway.
Comments (8)There’s nothing more welcoming than a bright and inviting hallway as the introduction to your house, so it’s important to capture any available light and lead the eye into the heart of your home. Light and Space If you really want to get maximum light into your hallway, choose a colour from the Dulux Light + Space range. This has revolutionary light reflecting technology which magically captures light, and bounces it back into the room to help open up darker areas. Cotton Breeze is a gorgeous fresh pale blue grey that would really come to life on the walls and ceiling, and tie in with the blue in your floor. Reflections An easy trick to lift a space is to place mirrors in strategic places. Positioning a large mirror on your landing will make your hallway feel wider, as well as bouncing light that comes in from the doorways. Glass light fittings and glazed framed pictures on the walls will also help with catching the light, and making your hallway feel bright and uplifting. Colour play Lighter colours will open up your hallway, but you don’t always have to go for ‘off white’ to get the best solution. With a hint of nautical, Velvet Touch 5 is a gorgeous soft pale duck egg blue that will co-ordinate with your floor tiles beautifully. Go for a matt finish to disguise uneven surfaces, and Endurance+ which is super hardwearing and wipeable - perfect to clean away any sticky fingerprints. Pick out the architectural details such as skirting and coving in Absolute White for a lovely fresh feel. Focal Point The wall that runs up your stairs is a real focal point of your hallway, so bring this to life with a fuller shade such as Velvet Touch 3, or a printed wallpaper. Highlight this wall with a collection of your favourite pictures or family photos, grouped together for maximum impact. Good luck and please let us know what you go for! Comments (14)Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks...See MoreHelp with paint colours for our stairs, hall and landing!
Comments (1)With white woodwork, I suggest painting the walls and woodwork in semi-gloss white. White woodwork and walls will make the space visually larger, and semi-gloss paint reflects light and is easy to clean....See MoreHelp! Light & dark hallway & landing
Comments (13)This carpet (2nd pic) may work with both carpets. I'd go for a runner for the stairs again, I think alternative flooring may do bespoke runners so you could add a colour border for the stairs. Alternatively a sisal Boucle or herringbone would suit the style of the house. I think you need to pick up a few samples. I agree a mirror by your bedroom door And swap to Roman blinds. You could add a chair on the landing as a reading spot or a chest of drawers with a lamp to store paperwork etc. Paint colours maybe look at farrow and ball clunch or slipper satin. It's hard to help with exact things as you don't have any ideabooks set up so no idea of styles or colours you like https://www.johnlewis.com/alternative-flooring-wool-iconic-chevron-loop-carpet/brooklyn/p1913816...See Morenessaj74
