Comments (8)I love Brandi's 'rainwashed' paint colour. I'd go against a whole carpet in tartan as although it's still on trend presently, trends don't last forever, and replacing a rug is cheap compared to a whole carpet when you're fed up with it. I found a lovely one in Next that i think compliments the whole scheme. next rug It's a lovely thick wool rug, sumptuous !...See MoreLounge room ceiling and light
Comments (0)Our late Victorian "cottage" has a small sitting room with lining boards on the ceiling. We are going to paint the walls a dark grey, and do white in all the woodwork, with a white fire surround. We are contemplating doing an exposed brick chimney, but are going to wait and see what we get when we take the old plaster off. The question I have is, can you put in a chandelier if the ceiling is all lining boards? Or does it need the plaster and possibly a ceiling rose to make if look good?...See MoreRevamp lounge/diner from scratch - what order should I do/buy things?!
Comments (5)I agree with Minnie. Paint colour last. Try to get swatches of everything and look at them in your home, in different lights (day and night). It's amazing how different colours look in different lights. So what looks like grey in the shop, might look purple in your home. Also, hold the swatches together and hold the swatches in the direction they are going in. For example: carpet horizontal, sofa fabric vertical and horizontal, curtains vertical. Good luck and have fun :-)...See MoreCeiling lighting in lounge
Comments (5)It’s all a matter of taste and style. Try smaller cornicing with the concealed lighting then your ceiling height or room shape won’t be an issue. Combine with table lamps and you’ll create a lovely ambience. If you fancy it, go for it....See Moredebbiefox86
