Kitchen table ideas please
The photos below show our current table set up in the kitchen - a 600mm wide garden bistro table and 2 folding chairs !
Table is mainly used for breakfast and cups of tea with friends - it’s not our main dining table but handy for my son in the morning as I can keep an eye on him!!
I think a round table suits the area plus my husband wants to add a bit of colour with some new chairs. Any suggestions / opinions please? Thank you

Comments (16)Are you keeping the window in the Breakfast room or opening it up to the courtyard? If leaving as a window and the rooms are wide enough you could possibly take a row of Tall units down the left side of current kitchen, so thats the oven, larder and built in Fridge freezer, then continue down that wall into the Breakfast room with Large Pan Drawers, hob, sink, dishwasher, washing machine. Have low & narrow units opposite the tall units to create a window seat & great for storage. With fold up tables you could use the window seat for additional dining. A long dining table opposite the sink area in the current breakfast room with bench seats depending on width of the room. downside of this design is the distance to get things out of fridge and the need to ensure a work top is near the oven. Just trying to think out of the box I hate the same old look kitchens. you do need a good 3D image to imagine the look, Good luck. Comments (41)It's a tough one, leather may be a safer option. What do you think of this rug with it, might also go nicely with the first rust stool I posted (the stool also comes with black legs)? Unfo Unfortunatel, we got let down by the contractors we hired who turned out to be professional scammers! Comments (5)Borrow a small table - or get a large box - and try it out. I grew up in a house with a kitchen smaller than that and 5 of us sat around a round table every night for dinner. It had two little folding sides so one side got folded down to push it back against the wall when not in use. I'd look for a round table rather than square/rectangular as they are easier to squeeze past - think about how small a cafe table is, to get an idea for how small you can go - just need space for a plate and a glass each - search for a drop leaf round table to get ideas. 5 years agoSo I’ve done a little sketch which shows the space I have to work with - just 1200mm of wall on one side and a width of 2000mm between that wall and the units. Would a perpendicular breakfast bar protrude too much ? The wall the bar would be attached to is at a slight angle. I’ve also laid a tape measure out at 1 metre. Excuse the cats...

5 years agoThe paper template is a good idea.
I'm not an expert, but I'd say that around 50 cm deep would be a good depth. I'd try 120 - 125 cm long and shoved against the end of the cabinets. See how much space that leaves to walk around or whether it's a weird angled obstacle.
I always like a bench, but I think that the wall is too small and that it will take up rather a lot of space with a table and additional chairs. Hence the bar idea.
If you end up doing a wall mounted bar/shelf, you could hang a map of the world on the wall for example. Good opportunity to learn something whilst sitting there ;-)

5 years agoYou could do above the radiator but you've still got the facing the wall problem. Because of the awkward angle on the wall I would go round and tall (or maybe square, but def not rectangle ) with two fab stools.
