Bay window seating; bespoke fitted or 'snuggle' sofa?
Comments (11)Just had a thought ! The window seat idea is nice, and they do look pretty, however are really for occasional use, and not comfy for watching T.V. So, do you need more permanent seating or are we just doing 'aesthetically pleasing'? You could have the window seat without the need to move the radiator as it's a messy job and apt to ruin the nice boards already down. Build the seat around the radiator and finish with a Jali panel in front that will let the heat escape. https://www.jali.co.uk/products/fretwork-panels/fretwork-panels.cfm. If you have the room, i'd probably go for this and the fireside armchair. Have your cake and eat it!...See MoreBay window ideas
Comments (7)Hiya, I'm not sure I would want fabric blinds, we had vertical blinds before and they were a pain to clean cat hair off! I am thinking of changing the blinds to wooden Venetian blinds. The rest of the room is pretty empty as in the dacor. We've not long moved and still in the process of decorating. we do have another window in the room which I'm not sure if I'm to just leave it or match the bay window. We also have quite a nice feature fireplace. The rest of the room is papered a very suttle peppermint green. here are some additional pics. thank you for your help....See MoreHow to dress bay window in a multi-use retro room?
Comments (11)Hi @Emma Lamb. I'm super up for a reconfiguration, but don't really know what else to try. I've had various arrangements in the past and this is the best yet. In an ideal world, we wouldn't have the furniture all against the walls, but we do yoga in here so we need the space. The two chairs are meant to angle in a little more than they were when I took the picture (after the Christmas mess!), but the one closest to the kitchen really just sits awkwardly blocking access to the kitchen and occasionally hiding the fish tank :( If you have any suggestions of things to move around, I'd be really up for hearing them. I know I want to keep the table where it is as I like to sit in the window while I'm working, the sofa and speakers are also pretty stuck in place due to listening angles, but the chairs, dresser, side tables, storage unit and small table holding the fish tank can all move. I'm planning to remove the fish tank table from the mix when the cabinet arrives, but they are similar in size so I could plan around either just now. I think I will go with Roman blinds and now just debating whether to get them made up or do them myself. The middle window will need more than one width so it will be a lot of matching, but I'm going to speak to the fabric store and see how I feel. So excited to get them in situ!!...See MoreTo bay or not to bay? What should I do with my bay window???
Comments (13)It would be a shame to remove such an unusual bay window. Very few windows go right down to the floor like this. In many ways this creates quite a modern look as well as being a beautiful original feature. Have you thought about extending directly out from the kitchen, incorporating the utility (and maybe part of the covered passage?). This could be 2 storey with lots of glazing/bifold doors to the garden with lovely views back of your spectacular bay window. Take the wall down between the kitchen and bay window room to make it all open plan whilst retaining an interesting shape. If you still want a separate utility this could be put into the rear area of the garage, maybe with a WC. Upstairs, you could put in a shower room in part of the existing bedroom 3 next to the bathroom and with the extension it would be a good size bedroom, probably large enough to be the master with dressing room area. This should help to increase the value of the house by creating what everyone wants for a master bedroom....See More- 7 years ago
