kitchen ideas to add colour.
we've just finished our new kitchen and I've taken a photo and wanted to ask any ideas to add a bit of colour to it all rather than just the white and brown.
any suggestions would be helpful.
I'm thinking some plants?

Comments (4)I agree crisp white and a change of handles would look great. Also a industrial grey would look amazing, especically with the exposed hardware. Obviously this all depends on the rest of your kitchen but you could be more extreme and apply something cheap like chipboard to the back and apply some fun wallpaper to make more of a feature of all the items that you will have on display....See MoreColour for kitchen walls and blind ideas?
Comments (26)Hi Liz I had a look at the images you posted, and I think a lovely green would be great on your kitchen walls! There is a great one, called Persian Green from Colourtrend, i think it has been discontinued on their current colour charts, but is still available to buy, its a lovely warm natural green and would be fab, looking out onto your garden from inside. The blue appears to make the room look slightly cool...so maybe stay away from blues and greys! Defo change the handles, and just plain white roller blinds, with a side winder, no frills, let the light in, clean and fresh too! Comments (21)Hi Yolanda - I'd change the stools, table and chairs, and swap the pendants for something in coloured glass or (personally) metallic, and change the cabinet handles from steel to brass/gold. Instant lift. Splashback-wise, try distressed mirror (suitably tempered and toughened) as it has loads of personality, bounces light around and is easy to clean. Then play with wall colour. Warm accents will stop the wood door from jarring so much (or paint it, if you can convince your husband). Comments (6)I'd probably remove the metal splashback behind the hob, as I think it'd look more streamlined. However I've noticed that it comes down further than the very small upstand that's currently there, so if that will annoy you then perhaps just leave it! 5 years agoIt’s a lovely kitchen, just needs items to make it feel more lived in. Plants are a good addition. Lots of places sell them with pots included in a nice trendy design, I even saw some in Sainsbury’s for £7, pot included. Artwork is always good and maybe leave a few bits of kitchen paraphanalia out so it doesn’t look quite so stark.

Thanks all again for the comments. I`ve bought some herb pots for £20 and that adds some colour. . Something you dont see on houzz is the daily mess , so havent shown it all.
caro7342: The kitchen is 4.5m long and the island is 1.9m. I really wouldnt want to go any less that that. I probably wish we`d added 20-30cms to the island as it can get a bit full at times but its adequate. The worktop we had a bread bin to start with and it took up too much room , so thats in a deep drawer now and helps. Again, i wouldnt want the main worktop to be any less, its 2.4m. hope that helps.
