5 years agoHi - the position of your room sounds like you will get some/very little light in the morning and afternoon, so I see why the lighting is not great!
I would recommend to try Pavilion Gray - it has blue undertones, which will work will De Nimes. The other one to try is Elephant's Breath it is a little bit warmer. Note: I think adding a light blue colour may make the room look too cold especially if there isn't much light and if you are going to have furniture painted in De Nimes.

Try out two paint samples first see if you like them and then if one is too cold or too warm, go to the next colour down on the farrow and ball chart - it the best process of elimination.
The other thing you could do is layer up the lighting, you could try adding a floor lamp or a nice copper toned industrial desk lamp which offsets the De Nimes.

Comments (14)Fabulous ideas everyone, keep them coming:-) Carolina, my first thought was also a mirror, maybe an antique style one. Definitely something to think about. Minnie101, I love your inspiration as always, love the blue cameo box image, will definitely test out some decoupage on the little bedside cabinet. To all, must say I’m not much for chalk paint, never liked the feel of it although you can get some good effects plus you can always varnish/wax over it. Just feel for this piece I neeeed colour! Our hallway can get rather gloomy at the best of times (north facing with only the door for daylight). I do love natural wood but the cabinet, although nicely shaped is just cheap pine and not the best quality. I didn’t pay much for it so feel justified in painting it. Emily, i’ll probably get the Land Rover enamel paint just because I want to see how it compares to standard gloss, watch this space! 5 years agoI think a nice dirty pink would look good such as Setting Plaster or Calamine by F&B? All the paint companies do this shade in varying degrees. It’s a nice warm tone.
