Help me finish our living room please!?
Comments (7)Hi Elizabeth, I absolutely agree that you need to soften the look and going for a geometric or retro pattern will also add a bit of interest too and make your room feel more alive, In terms of colours I would say that if you want a more luxurious feeling the navy is the way to go for and if you want more retro then orange would be best. Do have a look at our selection of rugs on Hutsly and you might just find the piece you are looking for like one of these: You can see the whole collection of rugs here: http://www.hutsly.com/collections/rugs Hope that helps and good luck! Comments (46)I totally agree with Maths Wife. It's a lovely room, but when I look at the pictures I see the TV first. When you are not watching it, it might feel a bit strange facing a wall with just a black glass rectangle there. Solid black next to anything pale creates such a strong contrast that it dominates visually, this is why people sometimes paint a TV wall a dark colour, it then recedes. Another ploy is to make the TV part of a gallery wall so that there are other things to relate it to. I like the image above showing a long wide unit with a lamp, mirror etc. Compare the above images with the TV with the last one without and you can see how black dominates....See Morehelp! cluttered tiny living room
Comments (4)Hi Rose, To get more storage space I would max out the bookshelves that you have either side of the fireplace so that they are floor to ceiling and the full width of the alcove. If you had bespoke units made (budget permitting) within the side nearest the doors you have a desk built into the units. Here's an example of what I mean: www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/490188740662259906/ As it looks like there is a lot of paperwork/files on your current shelves I would use something like these magazine storage folders to pop papers away to make the space feel more organised - maybe have a look for some folders that pick up the colour tones in your fireplace tiles www.notonthehighstreet.com/heartandparcel/product/recycled-graphic-print-magazine-file-holder?DGMKT=FID__TID_aud-320996244214:pla-341275185006_PID_696992_CRI_341275185006&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwuD7BRDBARIsAK_5YhWMopvHLiU_DKrvBOlviiR7sV6rYBWfuM31B4nvithdH6yx-SNtTvMaApYJEALw_wcB I hope these ideas help Vicky...See Morehelp! cluttered tiny living room
Comments (26)Is this your only Reception space Rose? Have you got 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, this room and a small hallway? I love all the suggestions above and I'm also wondering how soon you are thinking of putting the property on the market? It might help with some of your decisions. This living space is trying to do an awful lot of things so you might want to consider if there's room in your bedroom for a home office. But if you're not putting your home on the market for 12 months say, you have to consider where the best place is to work in the meantime. If this was possible though, the TV could then go in the the right hand alcove and perhaps free up some space for a small (extending?) dining table by the patio doors like your neighbours have. It doesn't really matter how you live (we all live for comfort and our own convenience) but when it comes to photographing your property and showing it, that when the homestaging needs to start. Then I'd be looking to put as many of the baby stuff in the nursery (even the pram if no room in the hallway) except the high chair which could go in the kitchen, if room, or around a small dining table if you think that's an option. I've got friends who have put a pram and baby walker in their neighbours house and stuffed the car boot with stuff to give the impression of more space when having viewers. 😂...See MoreSam Potter
