What is your biggest property turn-off?
Comments (103)I have always bought wrecks - I love renovating: and I completely agree with overpaying for a new renovation that is rubbish and soulless: I won't even view a house that has obviously been done up by one of the many "property developers" that infest London. I can cope with anything (have rectified asbestos, removed wood chip, put back period features and replaced everything from roof to digging up a floor to install underfloor heating in the past), but my absolute nos: dodgy neighbours/road, lack of off-street parking (London), a floor plan I can do nothing with, lack of potential to add value myself. I have seen (and met) some real horrors whilst looking for houses! Also, I have to have a period house: 1930s or older....See Morewhat colour goes with F&B Skimming Stone?
Comments (20)Skimming Stone looks stunning with blues, including navy, and also pink/red colours. If you think of it as a berry tone, it looks great with everything else in that range: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries and green leaves. Also, I can vouch that it goes well with Strong White. I have Strong White in my hallway, and Skimming Stone in my living room. I agree that Elephants Breath is ver ‘lilac’, but it works when contrasted with Strong White and All White....See Morequick advice needed please as painting shopping very shortly
Comments (15)Can’t say that I like it that much either but that’s just personal choice. As Laura suggested, paint the samples on paper or cardboard at least A4size and at least two coats to give a true indication of the colour. Move them around the room at different times of day to see how light and shadow affects the colour. I usually keep a roll of lining paper for this very purpose! Also might be an idea to place each sample with the kitchen unit doors, worktop, flooring, fabric and accessories, altogether if poss, then take photos. That way you’ll have a mood board with each colour. Personally, I would stick with a light colour all round as I think there’s a lot going on all ready with it being a kitchen and busy area. But ultimately it’s your home, so go with what you love....See MoreCloakroom tile beading off white or off black?
Comments (25)I actually painted the beading in brilliant white (like the walls) gloss, but over time it yellowed. Annoyingly the same has happened to my other woodwork, doorposts etc in bathroom and toilet, as a result of lack of natural light....See MoreTani H-S
