POLL: Exposed brick - yay or nay?
Comments (32)I agree with Rennew Traditional Building Materials - it's not a question of what's 'trending' or 'passé', but of really paying attention to the existing building and marrying that with the sensibility of the future inhabitant. Some spaces suit the industrial treatment, some don't, and no-one should be forced to be fashionable. I can't help thinking of the old Bauhaus principle of 'truth to materials' though. If you find yourself faking an 'authentically exposed' surface, then something isn't quite clicking in your analysis of what's in front of your nose. Not that I wasn't once taken in by an entirely ersatz 'industrial' café in Paris once, which was not, as I'd supposed, a converted butchers! The convincingly-aged metro tiles were to die for......See MorePOLL: En suite bathroom - yay or nay?
Comments (78)An ensuite to the master bedroom is a great asset in a family home, reducing the morning stampede to the family bathroom. It also helps create that sense of luxury, adult space. A sanctuary away from the rest of the family....See MorePOLL: Open plan bathrooms - yay or nay?
Comments (18)Hello Bagnodesign, I rather think that designing with "trend" in mind would be fleeting and offer the idea of continual change. I rather prefer the idea of designing with longevity in mind.. It's less about being fashionable but more about what is right for the space and clients needs, likes, budget and so forth.. I think this is not a symbiotic relationship between shower and closet and poses no real advantage as you can easily create a luxurious bathroom or shower room with a nearby closet area that is completely separate and moisture free.. It is though, entirely a matter of personal taste, but perhaps all that is needed is a degree of further separation which houses the shower and thus the resulting moisture is contained.. : ))...See MoreInteriors Predictions for 2019
Comments (9)Texture still seems to be huge whether that be artisan products or not. I'm a huge fan of textured walls, having decided on tadelakt for our ensuite now I'm designing/costing it in earnest I have just found out it's not going to be suitable so am now trying (and failing) to find details on resin :( Agree that darker woods appear to be making a comeback and definitely the 70's (not a look I will be wearing!) Dirtier colours also seem to be popular. I think I first read terracotta was making a comeback in 2017, which I love both as a colour and material, although I'm still waiting for it to hit the shops, as I've seen very little! Agree with you on the Dutch art! With a few exceptions, I'm not keen on the fringing that has hit us, chairs in particular....See More- 6 years ago
