Blinds for Bifolds

Hi looking for some advice for blinds on Bi folds. We are having 2 sets of bifolds at the back of our new extension. I have decided against the integrated blinds and looking at options for a roller blind type installation, the width of the bi fold are 2.8m each. Just looking to set if anyone has gone down the roller blind route and what their experience of this type was. Many Thanks.

I was at the home building and renovating show on Saturday, and came across a company that do bifold doors with an integrated roller blind that you pull out from the side like a big sheet, right across. The “handle” for the roller blind was a vertical piece of timber so when blind not in use, the handle just looks like part of the door frame(these were on timber doors) On one side of the bifolds is a the blind that pulls across, the other side was a pull across mosquito-net type thing (I guess if you want to have bifolds open on a warm evening but not get any unwanted visitors!)

I was very impressed with the blinds, but they didn’t come cheap (for ~5m with of bifold with the blinds she said was £12k!)

Unfortunately I can’t for the life of me remember what the door company was called, sorry!

Hi Tracy, if you're after the best of both you can get shutters on a gliding track (see below) which look really nice but note that this can be quite an expensive option. Alternatively you could vertical blinds or even rollers which can be kept out of the way when you want the window exposed or even hung outside the recess if required. We got ours from Apple Blinds which is local to where we are in the North West. They are battery powered so didn’t need to be wired in. They operate by remote control which is attached to the wall with a discrete bracket and looks a bit like a smart home monitor I think. They need charging only once every few months. They charge by plugging in to charger for a few hours. The blinds when open are also very discrete but you should check whether they can be attached around your window frames. I agree with others that open glass is nice but I think for security purposes it is a good idea to have something for when you are away or over night etc

Hey, you've got to be careful, we sent our doors in to blinds to go and they said their perfect fit would not go onto the bifolds because of the door handle, our local blind company also agreed, but have installed some blinds known as intu blinds.
