Living room curtain advice please
Comments (13)You need to make a decision. Do you want the fabric to bring colour and pattern to your room or do you want to keep the whole room neutral? If you want pattern, the next decision is what style- check or plaid, stripe, floral or geometric? Then what colour(s). The room, as you point out, is not overly bright, but do you use this room much during the day or is it an evening room? You could opt for deep, rich colour that warms the room at night like burgundy, deep turquoise or terracotta. Adding patterned cushions with similar colours will splash colour around the room. Also, I'd replace the Roman blinds with matching fabric to the curtains, otherwise that will will lack colour. You could make a single curtain for each of those smaller windows in your main fabric and pull it to the side furthest from the fireplace, tied back. As to style, since you don't appear to be overlooked, floor length curtains on the front window and patio doors can be on a 50mm pole extending at least 150mm plus finials each of the windows. To stack them further back extend the pole more, but take care not to have wall showing just before the window recess. Tieing them back would allow more light to come in. If you choose a multi coloured pattern, later changes to your lounge will not necessarily mean that you need to change the curtains. Remember that decorating your home is less about style and more about you and your family. Have fun....See MoreAdvice please on carpet & curtains
Comments (4)Thank you for taking the time to comment. I do appreciate it. We have lots of wood elsewhere in the house and whilst decoratively it would be a good choice I was looking for a warmer softer 'feel' than wood. I agree the samples are not very neutral but all the neutral carpets we've tried just fade to a dirty beige in the room, I think grey would deaden the look....See MoreCurtain colour advice please
Comments (28)Your room looks lovely and the wallpaper is soft and pretty, perfect for a bedroom. If the company the paper is from do fabric in the same print that would look great for the windows and would make the scheme cohesive. It wouldn’t be too much as you have only papered one wall. I wouldn’t have short curtains though but roman blinds with thick interlining to make them look luxurious and provide insulation. I wouldn’t use navy at all, I think the green in the paper is a lovely soft colour and would be better for cushions etc. If you can’t get the matching fabric then use that green or the pale blue for the windows. As long as you stick to the shades in the paper it will all come together....See MoreNeed advice on what to do with ugly house front please!
Comments (1)Personally I think the sash windows need to be taller to match the height of the window over the front door...See MoreSorabelle
