Laminam countertops

Hello does anyone know anything about Laminam countertops? I want to know of there are cons?such as breaking or chipping.

I’m watching this discussion with interest. Since it is described as an architectural skin it could potentially be quite thin. I imagine that when used as a worksurface they mount it on something else for stability which also means that they have to add a dropped edge which then allows pattern continuation. If you had another thicker product it would probably have a plain polished edge.

It's hard to find much. I don't know if the attached are any help. From googling the only cons I've come across are the cost plus installation ( this was from a us site written a few years ago however saying as it was relatively new it may be difficult to find an experienced installer). is it worth asking the supplier? I assume they supply various types of worktops so should be able to give an unbiased view. It does sound great stuff what I've read though!

We're with Valduff. Shades of purple and plum can really add depth to a chic scheme like yours. Particularly with your gorgeous counter top. Grey is also a good call, as it will coordinate with your kitchen units but allow room to add coloured accessories. It can depend on the light quality in your room- we always recommend grabbing some tester opts in a range of shades. Paint your walls or A4 sheets, and see what the colours look like as the light changes throughout the day.

Any pale colour will stain if you treat it badly so even quartz which is considered to be hardwearing will need care so you don’t leave anything on it that has a strong colour (such as red wine spills etc). Beware- the inexpensive quartz seems to be more plain while the more veined patterns can be three times the price. If you are comfortable with a higher price range you might consider porcelain style products like Dekton where marble like products are widely available.

Sintered stone worktops are really durable. We love Neolith, they are scratch resistant, don't stain and they're also heat resistant which a lot of engineered quartz products aren't! They also come in a really good range of colours and textures.

Hi Vicky Taking from your question of "how bad" you are not convinced and looking for negative feedback ? I am sorry to disappointed you , cannot say anything bad about the Neolith. Crack and chip only when mishandled during installation. You can contact Neolith UK in London, they do not sell directly to customer and they can give you all the details of durability. You can watch few video on YT to see how many smart guys trying to damage it. Happy watching.

Have you looked at Evolve? I know you’ve queried several materials for worktops. Evolve is by Bushboard, 12mm thick and is a solid laminate. It’s relatively new to the Bushboard range and very hard wearing. Not cheap but very nice.
