hallway colour dilemma to match feature wall

What colour can I add to contrast feature wall
The wallpaper is navy and white with a turquoise splash in the pattern.
I think white would look washed out
Turquoise is too bright
Any ideas welcome

I did think light grey green but so hard to find and my other half thinks the green doesn’t match.

Looks great so far. You've been bold with the wallpaper. I'd go the whole hog and go with navy. For me, anything lighter will reduce the dramatic impact of your paper. And you've got enough white with the ceiling /s, radiator cabinet and architraves to balance it. You could even go for some white framed pictures up the stairs if you felt it needed it.

How is the light in this room? This weekend there has been a post here to vote on your favorite black room and there have been some stunners! I voted for the foyer, but you should search in the box above for black bedroom and for metallic wallpaper ceiling.. Also search for metallic paint, metallic wallpaper. I think the paper is dramatic and would be beautiful with black walls, bronze metallic ceiling and you didn't mention the floor, so I won't go there. Really, try the black!

Since discovering Valspar I wouldn't use anything else. It's great if you have a young family or painting and area of increased traffic such as a hallway. I've lost count how many marks I've scrubbed off with ease and without removing the paint in the process. Love your choice of paper too.

I think it depends as well on what seating option you're going for in terms of the balance of colour. I personally love the white sofa with the bed and the throw. This paper is from Cole and son, it also comes in a soft grey and a subtle neutral which work well with blush. The stars will also go with the chevrons. I don't think this paper really ages, I'd quite happily have it now although I'm sure my husband wouldn't! I've also added a pic of a teepee from Ella James as they're so cute for kids rooms and can obviously be removed once outgrown :)

I don’t think it’s necessary to change the wall colour, unless you want to? I also had a thought about putting a door on the area to create a little cloakroom? However, I can see it also leads into another room so it probably wouldn’t work anyway!

I love the paper but think that all navy could be dark and unless there is a corresponding paint from the wallpaper company very hard to match up too.
I have attached photos of my ‘similar ‘ paper and how I’ve used the navy along with a grey- white. The first three photos show the three storeys of the house and the paper was only used on the top and carried through into the adjacent study.

Although you could pick up the teal I wonder if it’s too much of a contrast? Personally I would probably find the right white and just have your paper really stand out. And if you have an appropriate alcove or end wall maybe add in some navy.

Hi, looks great so far, I can see why you’re finding it a hard match to find. I would personally go for a light grey like Farrow and Ball Cornforth White, and then add some navy touches against that side of the room (vases or accessories on a shelf or something) to tie it all together.

Hi Vicki,
I agree with Jules that it would look great to complement the wallpaper by carrying on with dark colour on the walls.
I thought these could work hiding by your pictures: Mylands-Bond Street no.209, Marston&Langinger -Smoke Blue.
As a lighter alternative you could look at F&B Stiffekey Blue (it would compliment the teal colour without being too strong).

Have a go - you can always repaint it! Third colour for my hall as despite test pots etc it just didn’t feel right.
The navy in my photo above is Stiffkey Blue and the white Cornforth Grey, both from Farrow and Ball.

I would look at something like F&B Shadow White or Shaded White. They work really well with blue, have more warmth than grey and are less contrasting than white.

I love a navy wall, but I think a soft grey would compliment the wallpaper nicely. i think this will let the wallpaper shine. I don’t think grey green would go at all, much as I like green and have it in my sitting room.

I think the turquoise would look great, but paint the bannister and stairs white to lift the light levels.
