Ceiling Track Curtains

Is this just a curtain track (room divider track) on the ceiling? I don't love the look of having a curtain rod along the entire wall, so this is a perfect solution and want to do it myself!

Yes, the drapery track is flush mounted into the ceiling for a clean look.

These curtains would look best professionally made. Are you wanting sheers or fully lined curtains? I would recommend choosing wide width curtain fabric 300cm this will be more cost effective than 140cm wide. You can have your track mounted to the ceiling. If you have an interior designer or curtain company quote they would recommend the best solution. If the extension isn't built yet you can ask the builder to allow for an area to fix your track. Do you have any wall space on either side of the windows to allow for what's called the stack back ( where the curtains need to sit when open) You don't want this getting in the way of the door. Hi Caro, you may find it difficult to fix the curtain track into the ceiling (the joints are not always lined up with the window and even if they are, you may not have one exactly in the right place). If you are looking to get ceiling to floor curtains (which I highly recommend) you can do that by fitting the curtain track into the wall as well. Many wall fitted curtain tracks can be fitted very close to the ceiling, so in practise you don't really see any difference. Visit a hight street department store that offers curtain track fitting (John Lewis, for example) and they will be able to tell you more about the tracks and fitting options. There is usually no pressure to buy, so you can just go and listen to their advice. Kati

Blinds would be the better option and would help the room feel more spacious. Wooden venetian blinds are good for controlling the light effectively, and would suit that window perfectly. You could also go for roman blinds, or if you're looking to block out as much light as possible, a blackout roller blind. I got one for my bay window from a local curtain shop. It’s white painted metal and very sturdy. Your first picture doesn’t show the track so hard to see if it will do. You get a much better quality track there than at Dunelms etc. Mine cost £200 which included the fitting.
