Stainless steel in the kitchen - yay or nay?
Comments (23)A lot of people ask how easy it is to clean stainless steel [worktops]. The simple answer is 'very easy' and GEC Anderson recommend the microfibre cloths that have been mentioned by a number of contributors, in combination with cold water. Simply wipe down the worktop after use to prevent build up of streaks or marks - especially, in hard water areas. And that's it! Some words of caution probably should be taken into account before making a final decision as to whether stainless steel suits your lifestyle. Stainless steel is prone to attracting finger prints and marks and so the key here is to regularly wipe down the surface so as not to let dirt and extraneous material to build up in the first place. Another thing to consider is that stainless steel will scratch and mark over time. This is perfectly normal! Scratches and marks will build up over time, creating a unique patina appearance. Simply ignore them. Your stainless steel worktop will outlast pretty much every other alternative worktop material and should provide you with several decades of useful service....See MoreCopper & Mint Green do-able with Black work tops, chrome & Stainless??
Comments (17)Hi Becky! I love the idea of copper and mint green kitchen. You've already bought some minty stuff which is great, you can still use them. Heres what I'm thinking... 1. Get some spotlights in there perhaps underneath your wall cabinets? 2. Love the idea of bringing in more herb pots & plants. 3. Change the tiling to mint green or perhaps something a lot lighter, like the marble effect? It will go perfectly with the mint green theme. Heres some pictures I found that might help you, it is quite close to your dark granite worktop. Let me know how it goes.Hope this helps and good luck! Comments (7)Have you consider a Concrete finish?? These days these can be fabricated using "micro" concrete which is very effective , looks great and will not break the bank. These images are showing a concrete finish worktop:- If stainless steel "rocks your boat", then you can find plenty of commercial kitchen manufacturers that are making product for the residential world who work with 4 metre long sheets of material - for example - https://www.stainlessdirectuk.com/kitchen-worktops/ http://www.stainlesssteel.uk.com/pages/stainless-steel-for-the-worktop-covers-sector This company will give you a quick quote for your size - https://www.stainlesssteelworktopsuk.co.uk/product-category/standard-size-stainless-steel-worktops/ Best of luck with your project....See MoreKaren Muchow Heisick
