First home! Living room...
Comments (13)Congratulations, a really exciting time. At the moment your head will be racing and you will have so many ideas. I think you should make yourself a mood board of anything you see and like ( any scrap of paper from magazines to fabric or to photos you can snap on your phone). Sit down on a quiet night and close your eyes and feel the room and imagine what you can see open your eyes. have a drink of your choice and then start writing and looking at your board and this will help with what you would like to see in your room. This normally helps when you really are unsure. Enjoy....See MoreVery small , awkward living room - I don't know where to place things!
Comments (11)Curtains look neutral as does the carpet. Personally I would keep these to start with and paint the walls a mid grey which might sound bold when originally you wanted white but it will be broken up a lot by the windows and kitchen. If it is possible to get rid of the peninsular the kitchen will feel less imposing. Since the kitchen is open to the living room I would be trying to find a cupboard elsewhere to house this although you can get washers with a timer which you can set when you go to bed and they finish as you get up in the morning. Rectangular dining tables work when you have a straight wall perhaps a circular table would be better here. I would use masking tape on the floor to help visualise furniture placement. Try putting a sofa in the middle of the room, with the side to the front door and it facing the opposite corner to the kitchen....See MoreHow to make my living room more homely
Comments (14)It looks like it's a really nice size and shape room, if you are able to send a better photo of the whole room that would be great. I agree with Man About The House's design, if you could fit some extra storage the other side of the fire place to balance the room and move your table to where you lovely window and sofa to the long wall i think that would work nicely. Bold pictures above the storage units by the fireplace and paint the wall where the sofa is being relocated will make the room feel more like home....See MoreSmall living room, how to maximise space with what we need?
Comments (8)Firstly Congratulations on your first home, well done! got to say I don’t really understand why there are two radiators in that room as big one will be enough I think…small room. put small folding extending dining table and chairs at bottom of stairs by window tucked away. Extra chairs can live in the cupboard and then extend table if you need too in the room. TV and computer desk could become a multi purpose unit…think bookcase with arm for extendable TV and computer in same place? Or knock out under the stairs as complete wasted space now and put your desk etc under there. TV on wall with a multi positional arm saves floor space. Can see TV from wherever you sit/eat then if you can afford it and don't really need a computer then get an ipad. Go on Pintrest for ideas and look at Ikea layouts , they have small spaces and make it work. Sofas are up to taste but keep a tape measure with you always… Lots of luck...See MoreHU-162360834
