Glazing advice needed for front door.
Comments (16)Hello, If you want to have panels made in the traditional way, its a straightforward thing to do, you would need the designs to be created in a sympathetic way to suit the existing designs and then have the designer make up the leaded panels for you. If you wanted them put into double glazed units, that can be done, but you would need to purchase new specific panels to enclose the leaded glass. Otherwise, its possible to just install either in place of the current panels or perhaps secondary glaze them. If you wanted to keep your double glazed panels you could apply decra lead to them, but its not a very good substitute really as it always looks artificial. Looking at what you have there, you are probably looking at around eight hundred pounds for both to be designed and made in the traditional way. Hope this helps, I am happy to help you out if you are having any difficulty or if you have any questions....See MoreComposite front door v wood, advice appreciated.
Comments (9)For me it would be looks, insulation and being able to repaint in the future....so more questions if anyone is patient enough with me! 1. Can a composite door be repainted in the future? 2. Is there a benefit in keeping the house warm? I am wondering if the actual body of the door is an insulator, so is a composite door filled with something to insulate against the the cold or is a wooden door as 'warm'. Or is the insulating factor dependent on the quality of either door; good composite, good wood is better than cheaper versions of both? 3. Again about insulation, is the 'warm' factor not linked to the body of the door at all but to the fit in the frame? The wooden door we will be replacing, due to the build, will open straight into the kitchen. Hadnt expected this to be quite as confusing. Comments (7)Hi Ciara I love the idea of full height doors for the garage conversion but would consider the practicality of it, think about where the desk will go. It will not add to pavement appeal if the desk is against the glass and you can see the messy bits that tend to gather under a desk. Crittal style steel windows are exorbitantly expensive, but I agree with Jonathan the house lends itself to multi paned windows. You might want to look at good quality PVC options. I would suggest the roof gets a jet wash as the green moss should come off and reveal the colour of the roof....See MoreNeed advice on windows, front door and rendering. Thank you!
