Finishing the year out strong!! What an extraordinary year we have had!! Setting up the agency against the backcloth of economic, political and Brexit uncertainty, you might be forgiven for thinking that we had lost our marbles - well apparently not. Through sheer determination, hard work, support from clients old and new together with a massive amount of positive mental attitude there is no doubt that we have had a successful year, we look forward to 2019 as a year where we strengthen our market position further, building on existing relationships and forging new ones too. The last quarter of 2018 has seen us exchange contracts on over £6,000,000 of prime property and we carry over a healthy pipeline into the New Year. Local knowledge, local contacts and our pure passion for property is the distinguishing factor, estate agency isn't our job - its our way of life and living in this beautiful environment enables us to successfully blur the boundaries between work and play. Opening the kitchen and dining area, re-planting our small garden with black fences and then refreshing some of the other rooms in the house. We go thru phases of doing nothing in the house - just enjoying the space and then a phase of refreshing some areas. More tedious - a new roof and external decorate too. I am excited about the kitchen project but also nervous because I really want to get it right. 2016 is going to be a busy year!

Quietly at home, not a fan of NYE, makes me sad, have often found it forced and not fun being with a large group of people hellbent on getting drunk and acting badly. Also, living in the middle of nowhere, it is not possible to have a drink (not to get drunk!) and then drive home. That's not to say I don't look forward to a new year; I do, I make plans both for work and home but the night before, something nice to eat, maybe a g&t and bed at a decent hour. Apologies Houzzers, I have turned into such a boring Yorkshire git!

All of the projects are very impressive, the transformations are all pretty amazing and should definitely provide inspiration to anyone looking to do similar projects. I was personally torn between the country kitchen and the sloping garden, in the end my vote went to the sloping garden project, the transformation from a blank awkward looking area to such a cleverly designed and attractive space is amazing.

I can't help but speculate that perhaps the reason so many houses featured are London based or more high-end properties is because most of the case studies are uploaded by architecture or design professionals who employ professional photographers to show off the finished results. These services aren't cheap and I don't imagine these companies get too many requests from owners of smaller 30's - 70's era homes, especially from outside the capital, because the homeowners won't see a return on the investment. I would have thought requesting design-savvy home owners load more of their own photo's would help bridge the gap. Perhaps on the next newsletter you can ask homeowners to consider contributing any photos of spaces they are particularly proud of?
