Need help to improve kerb appeal and rear extension advice
Comments (6)Front: Renew the windows to the main house. Put in some metal frame units. Change the colour. Try Velfac. They do a unit which is timber on the inside. Break up the garage wall with some planting/ shrubs. Possibly more planting around the border of the garden. The flat roof part of the house isn't great - may be add a pitch... Rear: New windows to the main house. I agree extension right across or 2 new extensions that match with a courtyard between with new doors from house. Again, break the elevation/site lines with some additional planting. Pitched roof over the flat roof would definately help here....See MoreHow to improve curb appeal?
Comments (7)After more thinking, we are planning on a major restructuring of the front. The garage will be converted into another room, the front door will be moved to the centre and the window moved to the right. The pipe will be also moved (apparently our builder tells us it's not too difficult). We will probably adjust the position of the top right-hand side window so that it's more symmetric. Given these potential changes, what would you suggest we can do alongside these to make the house more attractive? Perhaps add bay windows? A porch? The house originally dates to 1920s so we would love to renovate it in keeping with that era....See MoreTrying to improve curb appeal on an ugly brick home

Comments (15)I think the thing for me is that there’s quite a big expanse of white on the lower level around the windows and the door. The rest of your street has a fanlight window above the front door - which again makes for better proportions. Adding a fanlight or adding height to the windows would probably need lintels adding - so could be pricey though. A relatively easier change could be to swap your front door for something more traditional. You also have a huge expanse of white wall at the front -maybe look at changing the wall to lovely railings or if it needs to stay, paint a different colour and add some plants?...See Moremilescantleyhome
