Main bedroom wardrobe - Too imposing?
Comments (15)Hi All! Many thanks for your help. Cariad Home Styling it was my first thought, but the bedroom door leand to a very nice hall, and from the hall you would only see the wardrobe side, which would look quite ugly. I suppose I could add a piece of victorian furniture in that end (something small and lovely).. I'll give it a try. Thanks! whirlligig the problem with this idea is that I have a beautiful cornice work, and floor to ceiling wardrobe will hide this feature! I cannot copy this cornice and add it to the wardrobe in the ceiling end, because they are not conventional... :( Feioi yes you are right. At the moment I just have the bed, but I'd like to add some french touches and if possible, put something like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5OaeCWyWWM0/Uydsfjk4a_I/AAAAAAAAPVM/rJQRtfAIeG4/s1600/ASCP+french+linen+drawers+Lilyfield+Life-001.JPG in front of the bed and the TV on top of it. It's hard to mix contemporary styles and traditional ones. Very tricky! I could take a look and see how it looks with the bed opposite to the current wall, But I'm not sure it will be ok given that the door leading to the bedroom goes directly to the entrance hal... Comments (24)Just as an alternative you could look at a French style door. It will still give up that grown up feel. I would definitely opt for painted rather than wood, something that doesn't contrast with the wall too much so they're not imposing but still remain a feature. I can't see the furniture properly but it looks as if it would go. Btw my brother recently had wood wardrobes installed probably about 10ft long and they were 5k. He used the company who manufactured and installed his kitchen in the end but the quotes were all around that mark or higher (ouch!). Layer the bed with cushions and throws and at least you'll get that feeling of calm and tranquility!...See More9’7 x 9’2 double room layout- ideas needed
Comments (8)Hi A quick 3D to help you....I suggest putting the double bed (standard double 137cm W 187 L) against the wall as shown (not ideal but fine for one person who has the occasional sleepover!) which would allow for a 50cm robe beside the bed, run the storage over the bed with up and over doors Put a shelf/headboard behind the bed 15/20cm instead of lockers (make sure you get power to it for charging phones) Ikea wall lights or similar behind the bed would not require rewiring as they can be plugged in. This leaves room for a small desk or dressing table & chair at the end of the bed. If I have calculated correctly there should be enough room for both doors to swing open. Also if you can buy an ottoman storage bed that would really help sell the space. Congratulations & Good Luck!...See MoreFitted wardrobes in 2 different size alcoves with bed in front
Comments (6)That is tricky what if you were to panel the chimney breast to match/complement the wardrobes so essentially extend the chimney breast with panelling so the hanging space on the lefthand side of the right alcove wouldn't have a door (if you get what i mean!) See if you have the height to have double rails in one wardrobe to maximise hanging space. https://www.jvcarpentry.com/built-in-wardrobes-around-chimney/...See MoreP108 P
