Scandinavian or monochrome style?

Hello everyone

My friend decided to make a renovation in the flat. She thinks about scandinavian and monochrome style. I would like to ask you wchich style is better and why?

Scandi works well for people who like simple wood and a pale /white scheme .

Monochrome works well for people who like a bolder approach.

Both work in home with good south facing warm natural light - but Scandi also works better for a home with more northern daylight.

I find it hard to tell the difference too. I think when looking at photos that the daylight is the main difference, Californian has a more sunnier light, Scandi, more cooler blue light. Californian style I think has a much more relaxed feel, bohemian, things brought in from the beach kind of vibe. Where as Scandi has much more cleaner architectural style elements. Bring the style ‘hygge’ into the equation and it’s gets even more confusing. See if you can spot the differences in these example pics (click to enlarge). :-)
