Kitchen dilemma

I have a white gloss kitchen with oak laminate worktops, black granite sink, and I'm having white hexagon wall tiles, should I go for anthracite grout or a lighter grey, thanks

Hi, your kitchen sounds lovely! I would go for anthracite grout as it will have more inpact than a lighter grey, and will also tie in with the black grantite sink, making a real statement.

Hi katie. I think the biggest problem is the worktop and splashback/tiles but dear to replace. I know your dad likes the green ceiling but I personally think it's encroaching on the space making the room feel a little smaller and darker. Having it white or in a paler colour than the walls expands the space. Removing items from the windowsill that block light would help and a bit of a declutter. You could try painting both the units and walls white. If you don't want white and white (but look at images with dark worktops) then try a light colour with white. Adding cheap lighting under and over caninets etc will also help as will reflective surfaces and accessories but you already have the SS sink and chrome handles.. Ps if they are tiles and not a splashback then you can paint them

Hi, This space really does have so much potential. Turquoise is a hard colour to work in a kitchen as it can appear very bright and loud if that is not what your looking for. Both of these images are different shades of green that would work well. I would suggest whatever shade green you decided on, you keep the rest of the room light and this compliments the green well. The neutral colours and light woodwork make it an eye-catching statement. Accessorizing in black and gold is also a beautiful touch to add, also adding a statement as soon as you walk in. Dear Nimmy, Exciting project. I think keeping the utility as it is and putting the pantry in the thin part of the kitchen which you walk through to access the utility is the way forwards. Using that area as a main part of the kitchen for cooking is a very lonely place, even if you have opened up the space. It will then mean that because all your storage is taken care of, you don't need an enormous kitchen in the kitchen/diner, leaving plenty of space for a family kitchen table. @Marina Drobot thank you so much for the thoughtful redesign! It's looks fantastic and we're very tempted to follow it with the masses of storage and kitchen space - however we really want the additional living space. We love the idea of the whole overall space being a communal area, and the living space is a big part of that. Your design is very creative and not something we would have thought of ourselves. I think they do look nicer with a dark grout, has more impact, but not to say I don’t like pale gray or even white! I’ve saved this pic for the day I change my kitchen or bathroom tiling, no time soon I’m afraid.
