Comments (21)Hmmm, pesky walls! Bearing all that in mind you're probably quite close to what would work best for you. I would suggest though that the tall units stay on the left - if they're on the right you're cutting out a lot of light from your primary natural light source. Also, try not to have your dishwasher tucked right into a corner as that just makes it difficult to work around - sometimes you can crash into handles when opening and closing.. I've tweaked your plan a little which I hope gets you a bit closer to your final solution: good luck!...See MoreCritique my kitchen plan!
Comments (9)Thanks for the feedback! We have a massive dog, and are a bit wary of creating a niche space that could affect resale value, for example to non dog owners. But they are really cute! Good point that either way there is definitely room for a cupboard there too. Bins would go under the counter. Does anyone think integrated bins are way better? Was planning on keeping the freestanding? I've had a lot of feedback from others about having the breakfast bar near the cooker? What do you guys think about this in particular? I hope the 2 tier could prevent major splashes....See MoreKitchen Layout - comments please (avoiding a corridor feel)
Comments (32)Reading all of this, and in particular redrawing the plans, I am beginning to feel maybe I am guilty of misleading with respect to what goes where. Probably by labeling with the names given by the kitchen supplier. It didn’t seem to matter when I was concerned about rows of units creating a corridor. On my original plan the island unit was shown with six pan drawers, three of them will probably be used for food storage; for things like rice, the three types of flour, the four types of sugar and the pasta that we use regularly. Also things like tinned foods and probably breakfast cereal, tea and coffee. The larder on the other hand will likely be used for storing things like multi-packs of tins and the large packets of rice that get decanted to a container as needed instead of going out to by another small bag. So, looking at all this perhaps my original design does cover all the bases as far as the working triangle / functional areas goes. What does anyone think? Still wondering about that corridor though....See MoreLayout dilemma Kitchen/Diner
Comments (7)Removing the toilet and installing a side door could work. I’d be more inclined to move the utility to the garage and add a side door for light and access to the garden for hanging up clothes. The garage would be a good mudroom as you could just walk through the garage or side door, drop of muddy gear and walk in through the hallway. Plus bigger and brighter kitchen!...See MoreUser
