Need advice about TV placement
Comments (9)TV above Fireplace - solving the neck ache! We would recommend above the Fireplace, but with a Picture Frame or better still converted into a Mirror TV. Most Lounges centre around the Fireplace, so it seems obvious to put it there for easy viewing - but they, by definition, are always mounted TOO HIGH ... This month, we will be importing a new dynamic TV mount, that is specifically designed to easily lower TV's that are fitted above a fireplace/protuding mantelpiece for comfortable viewing. The target UK price for the slim mount unit will be £599 including the ability to swivel it left and right (see photos attached). This solution is also ideal for moving the TV away from toddlers when not in use! Please also click on the two video links below (highlighted in green): Comfortable TV viewing for TV's above fireplaces Installer review of "down and out" mount over Fireplace TV Framing Regarding aesthetics, we regularly use local framing companies to put a custom frame, chosen by the client, around the TV. We combine this "picture frame look" with the connection of an AppleTV to display high resolution paintings or photos on the screen when they're not using it as a TV. Mirror TV If you have the budget we offer a special TV mirror bonding service, which is much less expensive than dedicated "MirrorTVs". We bond a special swiss manufactured glass onto the face of the TV, which behaves like a mirror when the TV is turned off. There are two finishes - "antique mirror" which is quite dark when the TV is turned off, but offers an excellent low amount of reflectivity when the TV is turned on (see picture below). The alternative is our "modern mirror" glass which is almost the same as a real mirror, but relatively reflective, so requires the lighting in the room to be dimmed when viewing the TV....See MoreFire place dilema
Comments (28)That looks soo much better. I see what celerygirl is saying............if anything the mirror is too big. I'd have it the same size as the fireplace and lower. It currently over shoots the height of the door opening. Really like the T.V area - excellent!...See MoreTV size dilemma
Comments (44)Hi Natalie, I love the look of those frame TVs. As much as I would love it there are a few obstacles. The wall is classed as a fire wall, I think it’s a solid brick wall. I don’t think that means it can’t be done but it’s maybe more tricky? To add to this I had sky out yesterday and they can’t really relocate the cabling due to powerpoints on the outside and inside of the closer wall. Therefore I need to somehow get them from one side of the room to the other. I went with the Bestå unit and, in the end, the LG CX 55”. I would add I’m in a 2 bedroom house with rapidly growing children so will need to move eventually. Maybe if this was ‘Thee house’ I’d try harder :)...See Moreliving room tv unit
Comments (29)I think alignment would be a better focus rather than symmetry. For example, the drawers at the bottom lining up with the shelf divides. I would personally remove the drawers under the fire and make more of a feature of the fire place/area. There‘s a lot of dead space above the TV, could you maybe add an enclosed shelf a top-opening door? It could be in line with the top most shelf on the left. Could you paint the vent the same colour and finish as the walls to make it blend in?...See Morejulie herbert
