Whatever you decide to do with that side wall, I would suggest that you keep the idea of an "art gallery" in mind. The furnishings/accessories you currently have in the room are strongly suggestive of this theme. Even your kitchen is very "artsy". For the buffet/bar, I would suggest three ideas. The first picture is of a mid-century modern console. If you are into the eclectic idea, some wood would bring some warmth to the space while at the same time keeping with the modern vibe. The second picture stays very closely with what you already have in the room - black, sleek, modern but also brings in a bit of wood for warmth. The third picture goes in an even more eclectic direction with a very ornate console painted in a gloss black. All three ideas would work so it's really up to your personal taste. For the shelves above the bar/buffet, I would go with all glass as in the fourth picture. I would try to keep most of the barware in clear glass so that the items on the shelf will still have a "lightness" to them. Keep books, etc. in the drawers in the console. Liquor could be arranged on a mirrored tray on the console itself. Keep clutter to a minimum. I'd still like to see some art on that wall, too. Another idea would be the last photo, which is my least favorite, but, again, its a matter of preference. Replace the green portion of the wall with red and I would do the wooden cabinetry in black and the shelf in glass. One more idea, to bring the red into the lounge area, consider a red rug with a sculpted design to fit under the entire sofa area. Our sinks were built in, but their cabinets were low and bending hurt my back. I determined the cabinets could be raised by adding a horizontal board just above the place at bottom that is indented for your toes. It added about five inches, bringing the counters up to the height of our kitchen counters. The board was stained to match the cabinet and is right under where the cabinet doors open. The line of the board is hidden by a length of wood trim. This raising up did require adding pipe to the water lines under the sinks to fill the pipe gap; moving the very large mirrors (no breaks or chips!) upward and moving the lighting above the mirrors up, as well. Took one day of work by carpenter and helper. Well worth the cost.

Actually Amanda, I've cooked with gas for years but now I have induction I'd never go back. The heat is instant and adjustable in just the same way as gas however the heat distribution is superior as it's more even. The other advantages are that the hob doesn't get anywhere near as hot so it's far safer, especially with young children, also cleaning is much easier as there are no bits and bobs to remove and, as the hob doesn't get hot, no burnt on residue if there are any spillages. Before I bought the hob I was concerned about heat distribution in a wok as I stir fry a lot, but I can honestly say it's been great with that too. I don't have a minimal kitchen, just a sleek counter, and personally I find the bulky Wolf hobs unattractive, but each to their own. In summary, in my opinion, gas is good but induction is better. That said, I'm not keen on this kitchen at all, sorry St James. Normally you give great advice and suggestions but here the sockets look wrong and I'm not keen on how they look on the tiling. What matters though is the clients opinion, so if they love it that's brilliant.

If it was me - and considering the tiles are unnecessary (because I’m presuming there is no bath or shower in this room and there is just a wc and sink??) and you want to update it without ripping them all out ... I would look at panelling the bottom half of the walls under the sink and around the room in a wood - painted with a suitable washable paint in a colour that works with the pale pink. That will take off the impact of all the walls being tiled. Then by the time you have added in some shelving and mirrors (heck, you could even have a mirror fitted all the way around the room if you wanted to!) the tiles won’t be that bad. Super pale pink is very fashionable at the moment and at least it’s not 50’s pink which we had, ha ha. Either going navy as a contrast or a rich grey would work or keep it all light woodwork with white and add in metallic shelves and mirrors in gold to compliment the pink. Cladding would work in the thin marine plywood and it looks great painted. It’s not a huge room so shouldn’t cost that much and you can get all the panel sections pre-cut at a diy store if you don’t have the room/facilities to chop them down yourself. There is T&G panels although they are more work and can be a bit dated with your tiles perhaps. re painting tiles.... the paints have come a long way these days to be fair and as they won’t necessarily get wet (add some feature tiles around your sink) then they shouldn’t wear out easily. The trick is to apply it correctly and don’t cut corners. Watch loads of videos on how to do it. I don’t think painting them will make a massive difference unless you were going to go with a dark paint though so seems little point.
