New utility room - stacking washer and dryer.
Comments (2)We have a utility room and in there i have American sized machines. However, in the kitchen I kept ordinary sized washing machine. It sits a cupboard and has kitchen doors on it. It has a normal sized cupboard next to it with a door and then a Kitchen end panel ( breakfast bar width ) to make it look right. Therefore, you need to discuss what doors and end panels / side panels are available from the kitchen supplier to find out how it can be put together. Most kitchen suppliers do tall doors to hide integrated Fridge / Freezers and tall larder cupboards, so you just need for them to work out for you how it can be done with what they sell. I don't think it's going to be that hard ! The only thing to rember. is that if you are using a standard size washing machine and tumble dryer, they are different in depth to Integrated appliances, therefore, all cupboards will need to come out at the front to make them line up. Alternatively, to save on space, buy integrated appliances and keep all the cupboards standard depth. At the end of the day ask the Kitchen suppliers, they are the ones that are paid to solve these problems, but, yes it can be done !...See MoreNew build living room
Comments (11)Thanks Ann. If you have a mix of pale grey and cream/neutrals then I would consider grey walls a little darker than the soft furnishings to provide some depth. Its hard to suggest a colour remotely but try a tester of Chic Shadow by Dulux. I would also go darker grey rug with a stripe or geometric pattern contrasting with your cushions so it becomes a feature. Make sure its big enough so it doesn't get lost in that big room. I would add some black accessories and/or picture frames to avoid he room looking wishy washy. If the TV is going on the big bare wall consider adding some wall hung shelving in black or white as well or will look very lost. Hope this helps....See MoreUtility room or Not to Utility room?....
Comments (19)In your kitchen plan the space between the wall run and the island is massive - maybe 1.3 or 1.4m? It should be more like 1m otherwise you will find the two surfaces are inconveniently far apart. That also means there is more space for a dining table than it looks like from your plans. Do you have a cellar? If not then the understairs space is available for a WC, you might need to carve a small corner out of the kitchen to add to the understairs space depending on its size. Or if you do have a cellar the wc can go where Jonathan has put it (entrance can be from the understairs area if you have the height, or from the kitchen if not). Is there somewhere upstairs you could put a laundry room/area? In or near a bathroom perhaps?...See MoreLong/Narrow new build living room layout?
Comments (2)The internal door naturally divides the space into two. Use this to your advantage and create two zoned areas. It isn’t complicated to extend the TV point so I would be inclined to create a TV viewing area in the smaller zone and a general living area in the larger zone with access out onto the plot. Is this the garden? You can emphasise the two zones by the placement of furniture. For the larger zone move the chair to the middle of the room, where the coffee table is now, facing towards the double doors and move the sofa along the wall closer to the double doors. Move the coffee table in front of the sofa. The wall where the TV is now would be ideal for fitted cupboards and shelving with a picture in the middle to act as a focal point or how about a fireplace with cupboards and shelves either side. The option of a large rug under the coffee table would serve to visually connect everything. You might even get away with a bigger coffee table. For the smaller zone site the TV in the natural recess behind the internal door. I suggest investing in a small sofa to fit along the opposite wall and possibly a small chair or a few bean bags or large cushions under the window. If you invest in a larger coffee table then the existing smaller one could be moved here in front of the new sofa. This arrangement would leave you with a spare chair. Could you find a home for it in a bedroom? This arrangement would still allow free movement around the zones and in and out of the doors....See MoreRibena Drinker
