Comments (27)Hi Jackie, Might be a little late to help but how is it getting on? There's a couple of things that can be done to test and eliminate the problems. Firstly to eliminate that it's water staining you should get a hair dryer and place it onto the stains, if the marks disappear or get better but come back within a couple of days then it's water staining (stains come back as only the water close to the surface has been dried out). Now if the hair dryer doesn't work and the stains remain there could be 2 other issues: Soap stains - We've got a process that seems to work incredibly well but will require some explanation so try out the hair dryer first and let me know what happens. Silicon bleed - If the underside of the worktop hasn't been sealed properly then the silicon that the fitter used when fitting the sink basin will now be bleeding into the stone - unfortunately this is unfixable. By the way, if you've having trouble in having something done about this and we can get to the bottom of the staining of the stone we're happy to provide you with statements and verification if you wish to pursue the issue further. Nonetheless keep in touch with how things are getting on. Marius...See MoreKitchen revamp - new doors and worktops
Comments (8)Thank you all for your comments. The quartz was fitted by Marble Building Products who work all over the country. www.mbpltd.co.uk Quartz is pretty hardwearing and stain resistant but as I tell all customers, care and common sense needs to be taken with all worktops. Personally I wouldn't put hot pans or chop on any worktop. Quartz is easy to clean and stain resistant but I would avoid strong substances such as neat bleach....See MoreThe ideal distance between a kitchen island and worktops
Comments (11)Agree with one plan each situation is slightly different. Depends for example how big the island is. In my current kitchen the gap is 1.2 but I don’t it’s ideal I think it’s slightly too big but I based it on lining up with patio doors....See MoreWhat colour kitchen walls? Grey units/oak worktops
Comments (15)In my opinion it is the saturation level of the paint that is the problem. The beauty of your kitchen is the natural flooring and the wooden worktops, it looks earthy. This is swamped by the blue paint, it just looks wrong. Without seeing the cupboard door colours close up it is tricky but I would suggest looking for something a bit darker than the cupboards but with the same hue. If you want a strong contrasting wall a deep olive green would work as it would balance the wood and the purpley greys....See MoreJonathan
