Help with layout for chambre d'hote sitting room/dining room
Comments (3)It looks like the little kitchen area has now gone so I would create a booth style seating area in that space. The piano I would then put at an angle in the other nook facing into the room as a feature corner. The rest of the seating would then be in the main central area. I think ultimately this depends on the budget you now have to finish the room, whether lighting can be changed to incorporate some features and task lighting/pendants. Have you considered having a designer look at the space? I work remotely and include lighting, layout and accessorising in my PDF remote designs. As you already have the wall colour and flooring sorted this you would be surprised how affordable the price is :) best of luck. It's looking great so far....See MoreNeed help - Living room/Bed Room plan
Comments (2)I think you could make this room lovely Kate. Firstly, the bed you've sourced. Are you planning to sleep on it as a single or pull it out every night for a double? It's just that it seems you might have to move it 45 degrees every night from what I can see of the design. Other than that it seems like a good option for the space. You already have some ingenious ideas for creating hanging space but I would suggest some shelving (not sure if floating shelves would be strong enough?) with hanging rails underneath to give you a bit more space between the top of your 3 chest of drawers ( commodes) and the rail for longer items. There are some pics below for inspiration. I know we don't all only have black and cream clothes!! but you can see how adding a few picture frames, pretty boxes/baskets/ handbags, etc can make it look more like a glamorous dressing room. I'm assuming concealed wardrobe storage is out of your budget at the moment so making the open storage look as good as possible would be the trick here. Could the rabbit hutch be put on legs or onto an appropriately sized coffee table (ebay /gumtree find!?!) it would look more like part of the room, perhaps with a couple of pics leaning against the wall, food concealed in a pretty box/basket etc.) Does your other menagerie (all the cuddly toys) have to stay? If your looking for the style in your inspiration pics (which are lovely BTW) they might need boxing up and going tthrough the square hole into the loft/attic space!! They'll have a ball up there without you. Maybe a couple on the top of your rabbit hutch for old times sake :-) Good luck....See MoreColour advice needed for therapy office
Comments (63)Hi all-I'm back:). Happy New Year! After a much needed holiday and some down-time, I am back on track! I decided to postpone the redecoration of my office till week after next so that I could take my time in choosing paint colours. I ordered 10 tester colours from Dulux and have been playing with them at work this morning. It's quite incredible how colours on your computer screen look nothing like they do when rolled on white paper or your wall! I'm so pleased I got these tester samples. My plan was to paint my 3 main walls (the only walls that will be painted) a light lilac with the false wall (below my window) a darker grey. But having seen the colours on the wall I could probably get away with a light grey for my 3 main walls and a darker lilac for the false wall-ledge. I want the false wall to stand out and be approx. 2 shades darker than the main walls. Having spoke to Dulux on the phone the woman advised against certain colours as they would make the room feel "closed in". Because it's a small space I do need to be careful not to use too dark a colour for the main walls. I've decided I'm keeping my purple blind so am basing my paint colour choice around the blind, and the grey chairs that I will be ordering from IKEA...attached/uploaded somewhere earlier in this thread:). I've already eliminated a couple of the tester colours simply because I find them too "baby pink"-as if for a newborn baby girl's room (i.e., Lavender Blossom=bottom colour on left) & Soft Montelimar 4=bottom colour on right). I don't want anything too girlie-most of my clients are men:). I've painted 5 colours on the left and 5 colours on the right-hopefully you can make out top to bottom, etc. I like Violet White (the top colour on the left) as a possibility for the 3 main walls, or Goose Down (top left), with Lavender Quartz (4th down on left), Grey Steel 2 (4th down on right) or Chic Shadow (2nd from top on left) as possible colours for my accent false wall (below the window). I love Lavender Quartz but fear it may be too dark for the 3 main walls. So this is where I'm at at the mo! If any of you talented designers have any preferences or colour combination recommendations (I need two colours-a lighter one for the 3 main walls and a darker one for my accent false wall/ledge)-I'm all ears. xx...See MoreHelp with lighting for dining room and living room
Comments (4)In addition, you could also hard wire the table lamps and look at dimmable lights. There are various downlighters calculators online to check that you have sufficient lighting for the rooms purpose based on room size and ceiling height. Downlights don't need to be in a grid formation and you may want to look at lighting your cabinet and bookcase (or their replacement) for example. For the dining room I would choose the light based on the table i.e. If you're getting another long table maybe a linear light would work and make sure it's large enough for everyone to be able to see what they're eating! I've also attached a link for choosing bulbs https://www.pooky.com/inspiration/all-about-lighting/how-to-choose-a-lightbulb-the-complete-guide https://www.lyco.co.uk/advice/recessed-downlights-planning-the-perfect-layout/...See MoreUser
