Statement Curtains Wanted for living room
Comments (24)Hi Looking at all the ideas and colours that have been put forward as well as the furniture you have in place, of all the patterns i think either swaverelle/mill creek jungle jam or the waverly santa maria would sit the best in your room. It is a period property from the look of the windows so a contemporary twist on a traditonal fabric would work just fine. You can have a band of plain fabric at the leading and back edge in a complimentary fabric. Have some cushions made in the curtain fabric to tie it in. If you are keen on having blue which is very popular, look at Sandserson as they have some lovely blue fabrics in a range of blues and patterns that all work well together. Go to their website and search on Blues and a whole range of blue prints are available...See MoreHelp with living room colour scheme
Comments (23)Thanks guys - some really helpful suggestions coming in! And I hope everyone's had a good Christmas. :) After talking with hubby some more, we've had a slight change of plan and decided not to go with the statement yellow wallpaper. We will still be going with the same colour scheme (mustard & grey with purple accents), but we will be painting the whole room in one colour (light grey or greige) and adding the mustard and purple with the soft furnishings and artwork. Now I'm a little stumped... having trouble imagining where the colours should come in exactly. I will list the items that will be in the room: - 1 sofa (ivory) - Gallery wall above sofa (family photos) - Sideboard which will have the TV on, and tall glass-door cabinet (both Ikea Hemnes grey-brown, which to me looks light brown) - 2 small tables either side of the sofa with lamps on - Large area rug - Hubby's desk and some floating wall shelves above that - Possibly a coffee table or ottoman - Some art (not much, it's a small room) and flowers/other greenery Now that the wallpaper is gone, the first thing I can think of that could bring in a large amount of yellow is the rug... or is it best to keep the rug a neutral colour too? Could anybody post examples of any rugs/artwork/accessories/lamps/side tables that you like and might go with my colour scheme? I am also posting some pictures of rooms that inspire me. Really struggling to envision this room! Thanks :-)...See MoreWhat colour walls to go with red blinds in living room
Comments (22)Make the blinds disappear by painting the window wall the same red. Otherwise they will look a bit 'bitty'. You can also pick up the red with assessories and introduce other colours also with artwork. I think lots of cream or natural linen. IKEA do a lovely striped sofa which has a thin red stripes which would give it a French country feel. Sorry I don't like the brown leather sofa and after reading how leather is mass produced I am now having problems with any leather sofas :(...See Moredark paint colours for living room
Comments (6)Hi there I think the green on that one wall looks very cosy and certainly works well. I would advise you to pair lighter coloured furniture against the green otherwise it could look too heavy. I think the same green across the other walls could work well, as long as you add contrasting colours such as white and also add warmth with gold and brass. Looking at your grey sofa's as you've not mentioned that you are replacing them I will assume they are staying and in which case you might want to go for a slightly lighter coloured green on those walls such as Teresa's Green from Farrow and Ball. As a side note I also recommend changing the colour of the door either the same colour as the dark green on a complimentary colour safest option being white! Hope that helps!
