Induction hob dilemma
Comments (13)Lucy it's a Neff I89EH52NOB island hood. I think if I bought another I would go for the one without glass the I79MT64N1B which covers the whole hob area. I find I have to have mine on high power so that it pulls the steam from the pans on the flexi zone areas of the hob. I like the ceiling extractors but I wasn't sure how efficient and noisy they would be as they have to pull the steam from quite a distance. The flexi hob is amazing and I love having it on the island. Good luck with your renovation....See MoreMoveable kitchen island with induction hob - opinions
Comments (20)For me this is just a concept for now. I will not be at the stage to commission anything for a while. I am hoping the idea will take off and by the time I am ready to redo my kitchen I will be able to pick one up off the shelf. I imagine you could have two types - one more portable by lifting but still stable when cooking, that could be a cheaper version - and a luxury version - stone top, and steel base with hydraulic wheels as you suggested BIR. People seem to argue about what is better - kitchen table or island but this hybrid could have the benefits of both. I imaging you could design a lid for the induction hob so it would essentially be a table when the hob is not in use. I guess people might say a portable hob would have the same benefits and be more flexible but from the pictures they look more precarious than a flat level hob. Also if cooking a family meal it would be common to use three or maybe four hobs and then the portable hobs would take up more space. What do you think? If it could be made safe is it a product you could see working for many people or am I just being eccentric?...See MoreInduction hobs with built in ventilation - advice needed
Comments (40)Hi I have the Novy Panorama 1841. I am not sure about the grille type exit point but we don't have one. The previous owners had the kitchen fitted. The unit is less than 3 years old. The right side of the hob is flashing errors and it has taken over 7 working days to get an engineer to come and replace the board. The hob is brilliant when working and really quiet. I think the aftersales service (through Aga Rangemaster) is far from efficient. With the Brexit delays you would think they might stock a few spart parts to mitigate the delays. Its been two weeks without a hob. A five year guarantee is excellent. I could recommend the product but not the aftercare....See MoreIsland .. Hob or a sink?!?
Comments (20)We prefer a hob on the island, we also agree with your husband that new induction technology will be the safest option for you and your family. The rings only get hot when a pan is on them and when a pan is removed, yes there is still heat there, however it is not scalding hot. It is also more sociable in our opinion to have the hob on the island is you are entertaining people. In regards to the extraction, you could ask your builder/kitchen installer to build a drop ceiling detail the same size and shape of your island to set the island location and have an extractor built into it which wouldn't be in your eye sight, you can also get external motors which boost the power and strength making the extraction work better.
