Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!...See MoreWindow dressing for a box bay window in the bedroom
Comments (7)I think some beautiful white voile for the day time, mounted on a very discreet ceiling mounted track, such as Silentgliss, which can be bent into the bay. I would then put a bay pole in front of this with whichever curtains go with your scheme, using a blackout lining. I would be careful not to have the curtains gathered too full though as you do not have a lot of space to the left of the window to pull them back. Although unconventional, to overcome this problem, you might want to consider having the curtains made to different widths, ie a shorter left curtain and a wider right curtain so that when they are closed they meet at the corner. On a flat window this would be very conspicuous, but your window is unusual....See MoreHow to refigure two bedroom ground floor victorian flat
Comments (16)Great ideas - all will work but I agree with Jon R - you need to live in it to get a feel for it. I did start to sketch out what you could do - but marina has done a great job of that already 😍. Have you seen the programme ’My House Made Perfect ‘ (I think that’s what it is called) some eye opening and practical designs on there. Simple solution is to move the kitchen into an L shape backing onto the front bedroom wall and creating a good space for dining or lounging area in front of the patio doors. As per my quick edit of your plan - (blue : kitchen , yellow : walls , red : storage units housing TV) Note in this if possible I would move the wall back on the bedroom just a couple feet, which would make the world of difference , lining up the storage cupboard under the stairs. You have high ceilings this gives you a sense of space - make the most of this but putting in floor to ceiling window/ patio - something like the crittal range look amazing. Your investment money is a lot but with real feature items won’t go far. But those items could be the difference between WOW and practical, it’s already practical and my gut is to spend more on the WOW 😍....See MoreBedroom storage dilemma
Comments (8)Hello, What a light and spacious bedroom! I have to agree with Nicola and think you should consider putting the wardrobes somewhere else, such as the wall on the left hand side as you walk in which would work well. If you can move the door a bit more to the right that would be great so then the wardrobes can fit right up to the wall. It is likely though this will not be very straightforward to do so you could centralise the wardrobes to that wall as you will not be able to fit the wardrobes right up to the opposite wall anyway because of the window. Then you could put a dressing table at the side near the window. The alcoves either side of the chimney breast are quite narrow so you will not get much storage in these spaces anyway and I know like you say the depth is an issue. So I would look at putting chest of drawers in the alcoves as they would fit in well. Hannah...See MoreMovana Sadek
