Patrina, Gas hob? I don’t understand why people opt for gas hobs any longer.

Hello, Here are the following options you may go with: Metro Tile Ceramic Tile Stone Tile Ceramic Tile Glass Tile Stone Slab Mosaic Tile Porcelain Tile Metal Tile Matchstick Tile Mirror Cement Tile Terracotta Tile If you don't like tiles you can pick glass panels, mirror would look nice too or cement tile for a rough finish. It also depends what look would you like to achieve. I quite like the glass panel as you can get them in so many colours and they give a glossy finish to your kitchen. I have white low sheen finish handless kitchen doors. I love them but here is the negatives I've found. The drawers had to be shallower as it had to accommodate the narrow panel that sits behind the top of the drawer front. They can be hard to open at times. I have 800mm wide soft close drawer runners and they can get heavy and it can be a work out on your fingertips. I don't have long as but I've been told they can knock your nails around a lot. And also the door handle area can also get knocked around a bit. I have 2 pack finish, so it's really tough but I've still seen a few tiny chips in 9 months use. It restricted the type of integrated dishwasher and fridge I wanted. I ended up with a semi integrated DW and handles on the fridge. The DW has a fin across the top to match the other cupboards Ive found them easy to keep clean though.

Saw an article on Apartment Therapy talking about mirrored splashbacks recently. Had some lovely photos featured, I personally preferred the options where the glass is raised up from the hob slightly. Could you maybe get a piece of the upstand cut to fill the gap? Also having it 'framed' by wall either side looks better to me than it spanning the whole space. I've mocked it up to extractor fan level and to ceiling level (I've guesstimated the tile scale but hope it gives you the idea). Daisy - I don't mind the has hob (although I'm eyeing up an induction hob) I think it may be the mirrored splashback. Don't get me wrong I love mirrors in all shapes and forms but in this case I think it is reflecting too much of the opposite space? I have a glass splashback but went for very subtle Smokey pale green/grey backing that does not reflect the opppsite side of the room. This one just mnn ...
