Looks like a very good quality kitchen. However, something really bugs me about it. Can't quite figure out what though..

Patrina, Gas hob? I don’t understand why people opt for gas hobs any longer.

I too always had the thoughts that hand made pieces were much more expensive...but not always the case... And its immensely satisfying when you get the style, size and colours of what you would need... My brother in law has made me just a few piece... Very simple, for storage.. But THEY FIT. just where they need too.. I love wood.. My Dad was a French cabinet maker in the early 50's and as child I would sit at the table and watch in amazing ways he worked with wood... Small pieces he would make us simple little toys, or no's... Nothing painted. We were very lucky in our home to have cupboards in the kitchen, on the wall fitted and it was covered in Formica... We also had a beautiful solid wood fireplace... Shelves for Mums little ornaments (which would never touch, look with your eyes only). I too like to work with wood, when having the chance...memories that will stay with me forever.. (Sorry for the reminiscing.).. But yes so wish I could afford to build my own home and incorporate all the things...Made By hand... Thanks for a very interesting article....

Hello...great units...I've just ordered similar in cream (again!). In my last house we used bespoke acrylic sheets as splash back (and behind gas range) and I never had any problems with heat. However, for your own peace of mind you might want to get bespoke strengthened glass cut to size. I painted the inside of the acrylic sheet coral (to match the facing wall and it worked very well. This time I think I will use paper (gift wrap or similar...wallpaper might be too thick) with a small repeat pattern, perhaps a retro design, and paste this to the inside of the acrylic/glass. Affix with mirror screws and seal with clear sealant to prevent steam/condensation, etc... Acrylic is cheap to replace if your design preference changes after a few years.

I have white low sheen finish handless kitchen doors. I love them but here is the negatives I've found. The drawers had to be shallower as it had to accommodate the narrow panel that sits behind the top of the drawer front. They can be hard to open at times. I have 800mm wide soft close drawer runners and they can get heavy and it can be a work out on your fingertips. I don't have long as but I've been told they can knock your nails around a lot. And also the door handle area can also get knocked around a bit. I have 2 pack finish, so it's really tough but I've still seen a few tiny chips in 9 months use. It restricted the type of integrated dishwasher and fridge I wanted. I ended up with a semi integrated DW and handles on the fridge. The DW has a fin across the top to match the other cupboards Ive found them easy to keep clean though.

Have you considered a mirror? This would not only work well with your colour scheme but would provide a more spacious feel by reflecting the colours already in your kitchen. If you felt more adventurous tinted mirror glass. When using glass behind a cooker you can use plain or toughened for heat resistance but ultimately what should be considered is durability. In this location where it is likely that pots and pans could knock the splashback toughened should used. If you commissioned us for this installation then toughened glass would be provided as standard and we could explore different options for glass colour or backings if mirror didn't take your fancy. Daisy - I don't mind the has hob (although I'm eyeing up an induction hob) I think it may be the mirrored splashback. Don't get me wrong I love mirrors in all shapes and forms but in this case I think it is reflecting too much of the opposite space? I have a glass splashback but went for very subtle Smokey pale green/grey backing that does not reflect the opppsite side of the room. This one just mnn ...
